Same arguments for the libertarians, what have they done for us, i get it. But ths NRA is dead and bloated. Do you really think that WLP is solely responsible for the growth in the organization? Like it or not Obama, and the bat-$#!^ Democrats/ socialists have driven membership as much as anyone else in my estimation. I can't-no, i went support the machine just because it's the least worst option. It might get worse before it gets better, but not one more inch means just that. Support politicians who want to infringe on 2A rights, you're dead to me.

    Librarians?
What the hell do book monkeys have anything to do with protecting the 2nd Amendment? :dunno:

Would be curious to read your thoughts on the NRA. Yay or nay.

I have supported them for years.
Recently with all the crap flowing about them I have had a check to renew on my desk for over a month maybe longer. Every time I think it is OK to send it something new about idiotic spending comes to light. I remain on the fence.

    Just be careful.
Last time I was on the fence I slipped and now I sing tenor. :runaway:

I will assure you that NRA growth was not an accident of timing or crazy opposition, if that was the case with the current democratic primary field would be driving contributions like crazy.

Like you, I like purity. I want every republican to be purely a complete 2A supporter and every democrat to be a moderate conservative, sadly that is not life. If some liberal NY republican votes for our 2A issues most of the time do we withold any support because they do not pass our purity test and potentially lose them all the time?

The point of my posts here is we must win the next election, get the best judges we can on the Supreme Court, the NRA is the only game in town to support 2A at the federal election level. Let's win this...

A couple things to keep in mind. NRA-ILA (PAC, boots on the ground during elections) receives no money from membership. We are less than a year out of an election and there are two uber-lib SCOTUS Justices over 80. That's a chance at 7-2, not 5-4.

Thanks Kelly, we have such an opportunity in this election...

Pepe Lapierre my favorite “prosperity guy”

The NRA is losing creditably everyday and it’s political power is fading quickly. This one man has done more damage to the NRA than all the mass shootings combined.

    1. The NRA is a 501c not a company.

    2. It is run by a cartel of Pepes friend's and relatives.

    3. Members have no say in what goes on in the NRA.

    4. The NRA is a cash cow for the Lapierre family.

    5. The NRA is quickly becoming a political liability not a asset not because of the people supporting the 2AD where it counts, it’s the leadership that’s a Enormous Herpes sore on the face of the NRA.

Some here believe Pepe is a great and noble man.
He is not great and noble man once the weasel and his entourage are gone, real patriots can regain control of the NRA and make it great again.

    Blind faith is silly.

The cries to throw more money at an organization that has some glaring issues every time someone criticizes them (or at least virtue signal that you're doing it) are sort of funny.

Yep, the NRA is the best org we've got right now.
Yep, the NRA is having some serious corruption issues.

Both of these can be true.

1 man at the helm far too long. Too much money corrupts about anyone with a heart.

    He made $1.4 million in 2017, $2.15 million in 2018...and $5.1 million in 2015 and $1.4 million in 2016.

It seems that around $1.3-1.4 million is his base salary and the rest is bonuses, deferred compensation and retire payouts.

We should at least have some context.
I wonder why the lynch mob has so studiously ignored this post?
So there have been some wide fluctuations in his total compensation over the years. It looks like he had an almost 60% decrease in his pay from 2015 to 2018. What is the purpose of this thread again?

Thanks for changing the tune on loop in my warped little mind.

Expat I am not in a lynch mob. But I firmly believe Lp and his entire family need to move on so the program can be re-focused back to the job at hand. The have lost that focus in leu of money and politics.

Let’s just look at the money

WL is the CEO and Executive Vice President or the NRA which is a “charity”

The $5.1 million year 2015 included a retirement “payout” this was the year that the NRA froze or eliminated the retirement for most NRA employees. Top executives “cashed out” their retirement accounts at this time a option not offered to most employees.

WL is the 8th or 9th highest compensated CEO of a 501c3 if you take out the medical professionals that are attempting to cure cancer he is in the top 2.

And the "57% raise" for 2018 included a base salary of $1.3 million, a bonus of $455,000 and $427,000 in other compensation with $73,000 in retirement and other non-taxable compensation.

So no real "raise" at all as his base salary has been the same for several years and remains the same, but other forms of compensation for that specific year. I get bonuses and other distributions from time to time, but if by base salary remains the same, I don't consider bonuses that are not repeated on a regular and consistent basis a "raise". If my base was increased, that's a raise.

I don't know if this compensation is a lot or not....and I'm not sure I care.

Vote with your wallets, and sure, everyone can keep carping about it too, that's your right. I get that people want results for their money- makes sense...but at a certain point it starts sounding like class warfare.

    Don’t forget the “expense” account!

I wanna work somewhere that I can charge $39,000 in one day in one store while hanging out in Beverly Hills and not raise eyebrow.
How bout $13,800 for a “intern’s” rent even though she lives and attends school in the same area as the job.
Get this a $95,000 vacation to the Bahamas for him and extended family.
$18,000 for a car a driver for a four day trip.
Pay for a team of makeup and styling people to travel with my wife on the company dime.

    Life is good!

What have you done to place yourself in such a position?

Me, I'm content with my choices and where I am at in life. Wayne can have his life. I don't care.

I care that the NRA could be more effective than it is, and I'm not so sure that Wayne's salary has anything to do with that.

This class warfare stuff is a distraction.
