Walther PPS or Kahr P or PM9. Reason being that my primary purpose for a handgun is concealed carry. Any of those would work fine for HD as well. Have owned Kahrs in the past, and currently own the Walther. They are the perfect size for concealability without being too small to shoot well.

    Probably a SS S&W K 357 4".
Although I'd think about a 1911 in 10mm with a .40 barrel set up as a second caliber.

    STI Eagle 2011

    I'd pick one of these:

    STI International - The STI

High capacity, availability of parts, ability to rebuild, replaceable plastic bits, good sights, good trigger, normal holster selection, etc.

I didn't read the rest of the posts so this may be a duplicate from some body else.

Glock 29. Small enough to conceal. With the change of the barrell you can have 10mm, .40S&W, and .357 Sig at your disposal with a decent magazine capacity. Iceing on the cake would be a 9mm barrell/mag set up. This may already be available, I'm not sure.

Of course a S&W 686 7-shot revolver that could fire the wide array of .357 mag. and .38 Special loads wouldn't be a bad thing.

    A Glock19...or a 1911 in .45ACP...or a Sig P6 in 9mm... If self-defense wasn't a requirement, I'd just as soon have a .22 High Standard Sport King.

If I could only keep one handgun that I currently own: Walther P99

The P99 is my favorite gun to shoot. Much more accurate then my Glock. The problem is the mags are expensive and holster choices are limited.

Best all around gun that I would recommend: Glock 19

9mm is easy to find, mags are easy to find, holsters are easy to find, gun is easy to clean. A better choice might be a Glock 23 with a 9mm conversion barrel.

Mmm... Lots of good stuff so far. Paras, pure sex factor. Glock 17s and 19s, very competent weapons. 1911s, always a good choice. And I do get the revolver crowd. Awesome stopping power matched with accuracy and glass triggers, quite nice. As for me, I'm with Que. 226 does it all. Anyone who says 9mm is a sissy boy round clearly hasn't done his homework. Add high capacity to Sig reliability and shootability, and accuracy, and you have a very versatile platform.

I like the idea of a 10mm and have an S&W 625 that would do nicely, too, as someone already pointed out. But if I could only have one, I'd go with a 1911 but a little different flavor: Coonan 1911 in .357.

Too big a grip for some folks, sure, but I love 'em!
