If you have to stop more than about 5% of the time at a roundabout, you (or the idiot in front of you) are doing it wrong.

That's my wife you're talking about there!

She hates those things. We don't get much practice with them here in Bedford and Mitchell.

There are a few here that weren't gauged well to some of the traffic patterns they encounter, for example, there's a metric ****-ton of traffic westbound on 116th every morning, and it keeps the roundabout at Keystone full for minutes at a time, even for southbound cars. I most often had to wait the bus until 98 got across and stopped 116th to pick up kids at the apartments before I'd get enough of a break. I was glad that was a long stop.

Interesting. I drive Keystone a lot but fortunately not during rush hour anymore. I used to have to before all the roundabouts....it would take 30+ minutes to get from 146th to 465 on a regular basis.

I'm sure once 31 gets opened back up that will take a lot of the load off the Keystone intersections but that doesn't really help you now.

The 116th St. roundabouts over Keystone are the big exception to the "they work great" idea. Eastbound basically has 3 lanes entering the roundabouts, and that's just freaking dangerous IMHO.

The other thing is that it would be great if they could standardize the 2 lane roundabouts, in terms of which lanes can go right/straight or straight/"left" because on Spring Mill the inconsistency causes confusion (and near-misses).

Yes. That's the one, right there. Well, the traffic wasn't on Keystone so much, it's just westbound on 116th tht's the problem in the morning, then eastbound in the evening. Mayor Braindamage solved the problem some years ago by widening 116th from two lanes to two lanes, because the problem was so many people turning left. Heh heh, just kidding, the problem was too many people going straight, dingleberry. When the 96th st bridge over White River opened it finally relieved some of the congestion.

Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see...

I actually have grown fond of the roundabout as long as folks use it properly.

Same here. When they first came on the scene in Avon/Brownsburg/Plainfield I just shook my head at how everyone wants to be all fancy like the Carmel-folk..... but now, there I am always driving on Hornaday/Dan Jones road, and liking it. ;)

They have one off of I-94 in Mattawan, MI that is part of the exit ramp. I did go around it twice late one night...... in my big rig (34 wheeler). Tricky to say the least.

That one is a maladapted PITA! My folks live off of that exit. Every time I'm home I see at least 2 or 3 people screw it up.
