Wait - this is all hyped up because of what one DNC "member" in California Tweeted?

I don't see anywhere in his tweets about camps - I do see reeducation, but that refers to how do you deal with people that take their cues from QANON, fly-by-night right wing "news" outlets. He poses a question, but has no answer.

It's a bit of leap to start talking about camps.

In fact, his concern is about people believing stories about camps that are entirely fabricated. (Like Mr. Hough stated)

I think you could argue that it's not all that important because it's just one left wing nutball from California. It's not a certainty that EVERY nutball idea from California makes its way eventually to the rest of the country. But c'mon man. When a bat**** crazy person from California starts using typical communist idioms, I think we can pretty much agree that we know what he's talking about. The left nutters have said worse and have said it more explicitly than that. It's reasonable to assume that nutters are as nutty as they are.

So. Are we heading towards re-educations camps? Well, we're not heading away from them, but we're nowhere near that point. The future of nuttiness depends on how mainstream the nutters become. Is it eminent? Well, California had a proposition on their ballot to remove civil rights protections. That it made it as a proposition shows that they're not moving away from nuttiness. But their voters came through and they voted down that nonsense. So that's a good indication.

I posted this a couple days ago.

Are you ready for the reeducation camps? It always starts with a "nut" in California and ends up in the democrat party platform...

No seriously…how *do* you deprogram 75 million people? Where do you start? Fox? Facebook?

We have to start thinking in terms of post-WWII Germany or Japan. Or the failures of Reconstruction in the South.

    — David Atkins (@DavidOAtkins) November 18, 2020

This is not your standard partisan policy disagreement. This is a conspiracy theory fueled belligerent death cult against reality & basic decency.

The only actual policy debates of note are happening within the dem coalition between left and center left.

    — David Atkins (@DavidOAtkins) November 18, 2020

Thank you for starting this conversation. Ignoring the propaganda and disinformation problem would be a grave mistake. We should already have a plan to combat it. Simply replacing the President does nothing. We need actual deprogramming efforts, & we should consult cult experts.

    — Laura Miers (@LauraMiers) November 18, 2020

This would be a start. But there is a LOT beyond just Fox, Limbaugh, OAN, Parler, et. al. It’s in their churches. The theocratic and white supremacy creep are intertwined. @C_Stroop has done a LOT of work on this and @johnastoehr published an extensive thread on it yesterday. 1/?

]I’m not sure how you do this with the 1A, but the German way has to be the way. Anti-democratic (small d) organizations have to be outlawed. Confederate insignia have to be outlawed. Much as some people like to pretend, more speech really isn’t the answer. It’s deplatforming.

As stated, it always starts with a "crackpot" then ends up in the dems platform. I am guessing those that don't see it will be deemed to need less reeducation...

I don't think you or any other rational person is actually concerned. I think a lot of people want to demonize the other side and the left is hardly alone in this.
My concern lies more within the efforts to cancel any right wing outlets, which is what I think their objective is. I think since trump won they’ve realized they don’t control what we see and think on the level they want to or thought they were able to, and they’re going to make an attempt to snuff out any conservative views so people can’t get information from any source other than google, cnn, etc. It’s already happening to an extent, look how google searches will bury a conservative source, or how cnn talks about Parler being a “threat to democracy” in an attempt to discredit it. Information warfare is just as deadly as a physical war, and I believe camps may not be the goal at this moment, but if they can succeed at winning the information war the next step will be to imprison anybody who speaks against the machine. It may not happen in my lifetime, but at the rate we’re heading towards censorship and people supporting it i believe it’s almost inevitable

You can also be assured the "women" are actually women as well... ;)

LMFAO! Close the thread, nothing will top this. It won’t let me rep you, but that deserves it!!

Oh I had no complaints about the women or the social scene. It was the homework and tests that I objected to. :):

I played baseball and basketball throughout school, so teachers were pretty lenient if I didn’t have homework done. Hopefully these re-education camps have a basketball league

I would caution you on a couple of points. First is that history keeps moving faster and faster, not unlike your senior year of high school. It takes days to do things that used to take months, months to do what took years, and years to do what took decades if not centuries. Second, critical thought is an increasingly scarce commodity which works han in hand with accelerated history.

Remind me again how long it took some obscure socialist bartender from NYC who clearly isn't good for anything not performed on her back (if that) to become the driving force in the Democrat party and be so brazen as to demand all manner of retaliation against anyone who supported Trump in any way.

How do you re-educate? Why is right wing news outlets an issue, when EVERY mainstream media is left? It seems to me the entire issue is there’s a portion of the population that hasn’t fallen in line and isn’t following their propaganda, so the solution is to re-educate and cancel right wing sources so people don’t stray from the crowd.

And it may be one dnc member tweeting about re-education, but add that to others who have tweeted about making lists, and you can see why people are concerned.

    THIS^^^

And Jetta, re-education is like 'final solution', it has only had one meaning for quite some time (at least since the cultural revolution)

I think 400 million guns in private hands is the only thing that gives you the confidence to say that

What do you think social media and MSM already is?
Evolve it one step further and you have re-education camps in a more literal and classical sense.

Remember that this David Atkins is not the only liberal saying to put Conservatives through re-education camps. Kyle Jurek, Bernie's campaign manager said to put Conservatives in Gulags and make us go through re-education.

And don't forget AOC and others like Jennifer Rubin are creating a list of Trump "sycophants".

All these statements are "crazy" but still shows why it's even more important than ever to keep our 2A rights.

    FTFY

Read up on the history of socialist movements and tell me we're not in the cycle over waist deep. Demonize and dehumanize your opposition. Make a list of the troublemakers and independent thinkers.
Register all the weapons. Confiscate the weapons. Shoot or imprison the few who fight confiscation.
Dem's take the Senate, the pace will accelerate dramatically.

Mark my words, gentlemen. And keep your powder dry.

I have family that shared their experiences of the past with me as I was growing up.

If "sent to a camp", I have ZERO intention of being forced in without taking out a few camp leaders out.

Do not think for a minute that history cannot repeat.

I won't be surprised if the left gets in power that they'll re-enact the so-called "Fairness Doctrine" as a tool to control the information we're allowed to hear and see.
