    @IlhanMN

September 11th was an attack on all of us.

We will never forget the thousands of Americans who lost their lives in the largest terror attack on U.S. soil.

I will continue to fight to make sure we care for the first responders and families who lost loved ones. #NeverForget

Nothing like a little disingenuous (to be kind) backpedaling to try to save face after you tried to rally anti-American vitriol and it failed miserably.

Where ever my GPS says I am
I was browsing facebook earlier today and I was fine, until someone shared the photo tim Duffy in his fire fighting gear riding his Harley towards the twin towers. He was off duty and got to the towers as quick as possible. I can’t upload the photo but it is on google easily.

Never forget. Teach the next generation.

Yesterday my kids and I read a book about the Twin Towers. It was the basic history of them. Today, we will watch a few select videos and look at some of the aftermath pictures. I explained why the terrorist hated us yesterday. Today will be how America came together, for a few years at least.

    Good job dad. :yesway:

Sadly that feeling of togetherness didn't last long.
It would be nice if we didn't need a tragedy to recreate it.
People came together not just in America.
Many US citizens stranded overseas when all flights where canceled were offered a place to stay by local strangers.

Mrs Monkey and I both had the same thought today. She asked it tonight, but I had already thought about it; "How long will it be before this isnt so raw that it doesn't illicit tears?" I'm not sure it will. Ever. At least not for anyone who was an adult that truly grasped the gravity of the situation at the time.

The drive in to work today was hard as I was working a split shift listening to Tony Katz list out the timeline of the day during the lunch hour. It was hard to listen to. But dammit, I will revisit the event's details every year. Never forget.

A small fire station outside Dowigiac, MI has 2 pieces of the towers out front. As I drove past them tonight, I took extra long at the stop sign. It was surreal. 18 years ago tonight, they were part of a burning pile.

When the second plane struck the tower.
I immediately knew it was terrorism.
My first thought was they should immediately alert and ground every aircraft.
    That did happen very quickly.
It was noted many people disappeared from East coast airports.

I lived in NYC on this day. My normal commute had me across the street from the trade center on an express bus 30 minutes before the first plane hit. I remember how it felt when the towers fell, I remember the street covered in ash. I was 6 blocks away. I was stranded at work with no way of getting home that day. We had over 800 people come to the place I worked, New York City Rescue Mission, looking to use a phone or get some water. Most of all I will never forget going back into the city on a bus a week and a half later and as we crossed the Brooklyn Bridge they were gone. The faces on the bus still ride with me in my head. Tears, some could not look, but all will never forget. The firehouse that was a block away from my apartment lost 11 that day. There is so much more I could say about this day. I will never forget.

Wow... I can't imagine what it must have felt like being so close. I mean, the whole world saw it, eventually, and even in real time, but from a safe distance.

My "lawnmower repair guy" is actually a fireman and just does the lawnmower repair on the side. I texted him last night just to thank him, even though he was just a young child when it happened, for his service and for the service of all first responders. I knew he was at the firehouse, so I hope he passed it along. He was very appreciative. :yesway:
