In that Field that is Green
    1) Police get a call....man with a gun
    2) They respond and go to the location
    3) They see you are doing nothing illegal
[strike]3) Ask to see your LTCH...which you produce[/strike]
    4) They say "Thank You" and you are both on your way
    5) No need for all the other B.S.
    6) Opinions are sometimes best kept to one's self
I would have been asking," Are you detaining me ...or am I free to go?"

    Fixed it for you ;)

:laugh::laugh: Ya don't live in "da region"! Ya have to live in LAKE COUNTY to have that title **AND** be a hard core "I vote straight party D every NOV" **AND** then complain that all the crooks are always in office.:laugh:

Plus your just as "brighter than light" as GhostOfWinter so your automatically by default not from Da Region unless you can prove with some talk that you from the ghetto.:laugh::laugh:

I translate ghetto over the phone, does that count? And I know that I don't live in the region...it's safer down here in the boondocks. :D
AND I'll have you know that my pasty white skin scored a slight tan after a weekend Appleseed...while wearing 80 spf lotion. :rockwoot:

24 also runs through Kentland (Newton County) , at US 41. (straight north of me) And is on Central Time.

You are so right. Thanks for the correction. :ingo:

It's "sister's beauty". Remember the one that I took with her bfriend 2 session ago & she could not make it last time cause of "man issues". That's the one with the big head. LOL!

Oh I don't care if it rains but I know some might and may not come if it does.

My lawyer tells me the police report reads almost exactly the same as what I posted in my letter. This will be one the easier cases he has had.:rockwoot:
But he still wants 5 grand to make it all go away, with no impact on my LTCH.

There may be even more intersting develpments later, I'll keep you all posted as I am able. I really appreciate all the support that has been shown:ingo:, and there may even be an opportunity for an oc event.

Now I gotta figure out what to sell.....anyone wanna buy an M4? Watch the ads this weekend.:tantrum:

This should be a wake up call for everyone. Lots of folks blow money on what is likely feel good junk. They buy a motorcycle when they don't really need one. They toss out a few grand extra for some sound system in their car. They just gotta have an HD flat screen TV in every bedroom of the house. Some folks spend, spend, spend, and think that having $3,000 to $7,000 in an emergency fund is plenty. As we see in this case, and others, $7,000 could easily be gone in the blink of an eye. A good cash reserve would be around $15,000 in the bank. That would give one a good sum of cash to pay bills if they lose their job, but also a nice chunk of change for good legal service if ever needed.

I say keep the money in a secured fireproof safe at home.
Banks are not paying spit for interest.
And the IRSs peering eyes are not looking at your withdraws and deposits.

Wow, sorry to hear of all the trouble but hopefully some people here on INGO learn a lesson from this situation. The OP had good intentions of helping his ex-daughter-in-law but it backfired. He never should have gone over to the cousin's house (especially with a visible gun, under the circumstances) and then tried to walk in with her. It would have been much easier to call the local police and have them present to get her stuff back. The LEO could have verified that she'd be living there and it was indeed her stuff and then escorted her onto the premises to get her stuff back. Even if the LEO didn't want to go to the trouble and wrote it off as a civil matter, the courts could have at least got her stuff back. The route the OP took (although well intended) left too much gray area for "he said, she said." So what do we have? We have local police officers who can testify that the OP and his wife were there with visible firearms. The police officers, due to their apparent feelings on the 2A, are already not on the OP's side. The OP also may have stated to the officers (don't know for sure) that he had attempted to enter the house with the former D-I-L before being told to leave by the resident. It's not at all hard to see how enough probable cause exists for an arrest warrant to be issued with the aid of some lies by the resident, as well as maybe some suggestions from the police officers on-scene.

This isn't meant to be a knock on the OP, his intentions were good and it doesn't sound like he was trying to cause any trouble. But, let the police or courts handle it...

Some folks say that one should not only keep a few grand at home, but also a few grand in Canadian, Euros, and gold/silver as well. Some say to get cash to countries with non-extradition treaties. I guess this is what the rich folks like Roman Polanski do.

The way it's going, Euros might just end up being pretty things you can use to decorate your fish bowl with.

    BAD Deal

I would gladly donate some money for the OPs lawyers fee, I am very sorry you got in this mess PM me your address and I will send you a MO. I would hate to be in your situation, and hope you get it resolved. What realy burns me up is reading where someone commits a serious crime, he gets a lawyer paid for by us, you have a situation like this and it costs you a bunch of money to pay for the leagle costs and the PITA of going through the process. I havent been on this site very long, Mods. if this is against your rules do what you have to do.
