I recommend moving this thread to Gen Pol. Nothing is more political in 2019 than a shooting at a school, except for maybe the current impeachment debacle.
The kids been raised that there are only 2 options.

Seems to be some speculation rather than actual fact in that LA Times report? Not above public relations LEO's to gracefully exaggerate "arsenals" that they seize either.

As for the 16 year old shooter, nb, my guess is that this was a lovers dispute. He had a gf, he killed another girl, and 2 boys. They probably did him wrong, in his mind, somewhere along the line. Smart kids, honors, athletic.

Apparently the "late" father owned firearms, but since he's not around to vilify, I'm guessing this story goes into the ash-bin quickly.
Shortly after the shooting, WBBM 780 reported Police have identified the make and model gun used but not yet releasing info. Reporting later has continuously implied use of a Ghost gun, I believe the left is going to make a hard run at 80% lowers because of this.
And today also in southern cali a man killed his estranged wife. His 2 children and himself in a dispute in their home. Only their 3rd child, boy of 11 is alive in critical condition right now. Cali with all them gun laws...
Hunters education in school taught students how to handle firearms safely and respectfully. At some point kids who are curious about guns will need guidance from someone. I would even say if a parent owns a gun, the child is more likely to be curious about guns. It's hard to keep them out of sight out of mind if there's a gun safe in the house.
