I called the ATF, and asked for a Specialist on friday. I talked to Tim he stated that 922 does not matter on a SBR or pistol.... So its as easy as putting the stock on after you are approved, right? I'll call again, but If so it just makes things alot easier.

Nice video but what would be the purpose for this type of weapon?
In what type of scenario would you be using it?

For example a GLOCK/1911/XDm is typically carried by many of use as the std. handgun of daily carry. Most use a SG or Bolt Action to hunt. Some have AK-47 semi-autos for the SHTF events that will never come. Not bad mouthing the weapon just trying to see where it fits in.

Can you fire the SBR with the stock folded?

I would say in falls in just like any other SBR the plus being if you use a folding stock it's more compact. it would be great as an under the seat gun.

An MP5 sized AK is where it shines. The poor mans Krink. Absolutely full of win!!! Mine will look almost the same though I have an ultimak on the front and a tws cover for the rear. Should be nice

Awesome video, but if it is an SBR, do you still need the US Compliance parts? I thought once you crossed the Class III threashold, you could forget 922r and move on with life unhindered.

[See that someone already posted this... My bad for poor reading skills...]

According to Tim the specialist at ATF***, No 922 doesnt apply on handguns OR SBR. I got my VZ folder, Bakelite hand-guards, and bakelite mags eyed out to purchase! I cant wait!

The SBR shines in urban warfare, were clearing houses, etc are going to be common place. Weapon retention in those environments is easier too. If you have ever tried to manipulate a full size AK or M16 inside a car with the stock at ready every inch you shed off that length will be noticed.

So to answer your question...in what type of scenario would "you" be using it. Hands Down, New Years Eve without the flash hider!:ar15:

I'm waiting on my 10" Krink to arrive on a form 3!:D

With as much confusion as there is with 922(r) and SBRs, in a case like this I'd rather err on the side of legality and swap enough US parts anyway.
There's a good possibility that it's legal to build an SBR without following 922(r), since you're now the "manufacturer" here in the US so even though it's technically a foreign made firearm it's already "US made" according to the Form 1. I've heard/read some knowledgeable people make the claim that 922(r) does not apply. I've also heard/read that it IS necessary.

I also know the likelihood of being caught and prosecuted for a 922(r) violation are slim to none, but for the extra $75 or whatever it would cost to swap enough AK parts for US ones, for me it's a no-brainer. I'd rather just do it and not worry every time I see red and blue lights.

This is what the rifle looks like right now.

    US Palm Battle Grip
Midwest Industries / US Palm rail system
    Magpul AFG grip
Vortex SPARC with dedicated US Palm rail upper
    ACE side folding stock

Next up I will Duracoat the rifle and do a video on that whole process. It's on my to-do list for this summer.
