    Another vote for CMP. My youngest son and I went to Port Clinton a few years ago. We both purchased an M1. At the time they had a "CMP Special" which was a rifle with the original barrel that gaged "as new". As I recall they were near $1K each. These are Korean vintage.

    We could have saved a trip however as the only difference we saw in the rack were the stocks - these were all new stocks so we picked out the ones we felt had the nicest grain.

    By the way it pays to have the rifle shipped to Indiana rather than pick it up there - if picked up you have to pay the sales tax for the state. Shipping was way cheaper! Got them within 3 -5 days as I remember.

    I have another Garand I picked up at a gun show - traded a Colt 22LR AR I won at a raffle (+ some cash). Oddest thing was that gun operated perfectly, but when I dissembled it I found the OP rod spring was broken into several pieces!
