Good progress today. It’s in the long block territory now. Ordered the last parts to get the engine together. Hopefully hauling it all home next weekend.

The heads are on and torqued down. Cam and chain are in. Front tin is on. We hit a couple of hurdles today. One of the alignment pins (there are 2) for the oil pump was missing and we could not find the oil filter mount. I pulled both from an engine we have been snatching parts from. The oil pump came sans pick up. We need to get a new one and tack weld it into the pump.

Measured for push rods. Need a different set of guide plates.

I did pull off the timing chain we were going to use and installed an almost brand new one I found in the cabinet.

Can’t give enough thanks to Churchmouse. Feels like forever since we drove up north and picked up that original engine. Hoping to get the trans done this week. Then me and Rusty can fish it in next weekend.
