Great story... makes me realize how important a LTCH is. There was a comment under that story that I think the guy who wrote it would want more people to read. It really hit home, here it is, and I quote:

"Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that's it.

In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force.

When I carry a gun, I don't do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I'm looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded. I don't carry it because I'm afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn't limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force."

    Where's the bacon?
Those of you boycotting Pizza Hut and YUM foods.... Have you let them know that you're doing so and why? because if you haven't, somehow, I don't imagine they've noticed the loss of your $200-300/year amid the millions they bring in.

Write letters. Let them know that not only are you no longer buying their products, you're telling everyone you know that you don't and why. You might make a difference, but only by letting them know what you're doing.

    Blessings,
    Bill

I posted in the previous thread about our INGO member from Anderson's thread about my conversation with the Regional Manager for PH. Yes, I did let them know why I wouldn't order from them again.

BTW Pizza Hut Taco Bell And KFC have the same mgmt or atleast they did

They still do. They have KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and like 4 others I do believe. I work part-time at Taco Bell and they have mentioned the fact they don't allow weapons. I'm outside more often then any of them and more likely to be harmed. As soon as I get my LTCH and carry pistol, I'll be carrying it there. Hidden though, so I don't get crap from the manager.

I think the guy should be given a medal. Not only did he show great restraint he rid the city of 2 career criminals and saved the taxpayers a great deal of time and money. He probably not only saved his own life but the lives of possible;e future victims. I won't buy another pizza from Pizza Hut but I can't live without havin me some good old Taco Bell! ;)

Agree 100% (because anything over 100% isn't possible)

Has anyone seen any updates on the story about whether the employee actually was fired or not? If he does indeed get fired, I fully intend to e-mail and let them know why I don't purchase their products (other than the occasional Taco Bell). If common sense triumphs and he keeps his employment, I'll e-mail them and say good job and maybe some positive re-inforcement will help.

It's probably too soon, but given Pizza Hut's history and policy, little doubt the employee is on the way out. Since he's somewhat of a local hero, he hopefully won't be unemployed for long.

Guys, it's the YUM owned pizza huts that are the ones firing people for guns (primarily).

Locally (and regionally) owned Pizza Huts are a completely different story:
Pizza Huts shift gears on firearms possession

BTW, you are a filthy ignorant stink-nugget if you eat at or do business with ANY of the YUM businesses such as TacoBell and KFC... it's not just the corporate pizza hut ya'll should be hating on.
    :ingo:

Personally I rate pizza hut about 1 notch above dominos which isn't fit for a field mice. So it's no cheese of my pizza either way. :):

This **** hits home. As an "ex" delivery driver, I know exactly what it's like to be 88M on the streets of the ghetto. I also have a friend I love dearly who still delivers pizza and cannot afford an LTCH or a handgun..Gee, I wonder why? Maybe because he's paid $6.00 an hour plus the terrible tips in our welfare infested area.

The Papa John's we both worked at together is a Franchise location, and has a no handgun policy. The question that begs to be answered is, when I'm killed for the ~$40 I have on me, what are you going to tell my two children? Who is going to take care of them or support them or even RAISE them so they don't turn out like the scum that killed me?

Aside from weekly car breakdowns, this is the primary reason I left the pizza delivery business. You get terrible wages, no respect, you don't get a lunch break, and to top it all off, you line the pockets of the scum at the corporate office where their only fear is breaking a nail or letting their coffee get cold before they get to drink it.

The thought of my friend out there every night bothers me, but companies like Papa John's pay their employees so terribly that they have no other options. There is no saving money to potentially do something else. There is no free time to go look for another job. They exist in the same realm as Rent-a-Center and **** like that, just screwing the middle class out of what little money they make.

The "best" delivery driver at the store makes UNDER $15,000 a YEAR, INCLUDING tips. There is a driver at the store I was at who has been there for SIXTEEN YEARS and makes $7.25 an hour. There are no raises..they are non-existent in that business.

Hey US Government, you want to get people off welfare and give them the ability to afford healthcare and all this other crap? How about you start forcing these companies to pay their employees and give them rights to protect themselves? Oh wait..we do have a right to protect ourselves, but we have to find the money first and the company will still terminate you.

I don't know how these corporate cockroaches sleep at night.

Carrying a gun while delivering pizzas is sooo worth the risk of getting fired. If he does get fired then what the heck, he can always deliver for some other pizza place. He can replace the job but he cannot replace himself. If the fired him for smarting off to a customer he'd have to get another job. Just consider it as smarting off without the person offering a rebutal and move on.

You do realize they can't pay a whole lot more than 6 or 7 bucks an hour when they are charging $10 for a 5 topping pizza right?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news (aka reality) but entry level jobs and menial jobs that require no skills and only an hour of two of on the job training aren't the sort of jobs you work and expect to raise a family on.

Those jobs are for college kids and the people with double digit IQ's.

Sorry pal but "the world world needs ditch diggers too".

All that happens when we raise minimum wages is the cost of everything goes up and people get laid off.

The people making above minimum wage get screwed because they get no raise and their cost of living goes up.

You want to make more money? Get a better job. Most of these corporations actually offer paid tutition programs so you can go to school while working for them and get an education so you can get a better job.

I've got a much better idea, we get the government out of people jobs and pocket books and the money thats saved by paying federal extorsion fees (taxes) can go towards paying bills.

More Government is never the answer. If it was the economy would be flying higher than ever under Commie-bama and wouldn't have bottomed out under Socialist-Bush.
