near Bedford on a whole lot of land.
I'm no conspiracy theorist (but I play one on TV), however... This is all starting to make sense.

Y'all have seen how "Babbling" Joe Biden practically gets a chubby whenever he talks about his pet boondoggle, Amtrak. This is just an Obamatard administration ploy to force more people onto an outdated mode of transportation, that loses $32 for every ticket it sells.

What better way to get people over to that miserable waste of taxpayer money than to be able to advertise, "Amtrak... We don't touch your junk!"? That is, until the terrorists figure out how easy it is to derail a train.

Hard to fly a train into a building...

As far as ticket sales loss, how much subsidy has the airline industry gotten? Nevermind, it's not a debate about how much each respective industry gets (they all get a lot), it's how much should the government control common carrier transportation. Too much right now is the answer.

Driving is the way to go. We did the math for Indy to Disney World

Flying - 9hrs door to door, $1400 for the 4 of us. Leave the house at 4am, arrive at WDW in time to eat a late lunch around 1pm.
Driving - 16hrs DtD, $150 in gas. We head out about 8-9pm, drive over night, eat the same late lunch. We're able to talk, stretch when we want, eat when and what we want, and the morning drive into Orlando is great for the kids.

From Indy, any flight of less than 5hrs is an absolute waste of time and money.

Pretty much the same conclusion my wife and I came to.

We will be driving to family vacations now that we have the little man. We were able to justify a few flights that we got on the cheap with 2 of us but now paying for 3 seats and trying to travel in an airport/airplane with a baby..... no thanks, it's no comparison driving wins hands down.

TSA agent in Indy got "punched". Not sure the scanning had anything to do with it and it doesn't sound like he got injured in any substantive way. Needless to say they're pressing charges against the guy.

Federal Eye - TSA agent punched in chest by passenger
It looks like the guy could have had them in the position he wanted...and forced the issue. Now he's decided to puss out rather than press the issue.

Man says he meant no harm in hitting TSA agent | IndyStar.com | The Indianapolis Star

He should have let it ride...all the way to the top.

Same here as well. I ONLY drive for vacations now. I just take an extra day or two off work. For business travel, I have convinced the Finance folks that driving is better up to 5-7 hours away. Cheaper by far (rental car and gas), and the same time as flying.

Now, I just need to convince them that driving 12+ hours is better than getting a harassment lawsuit. We have rules governing behavior during business travel, and forcing me to submit to nude photos or getting felt up puts my employer at some risk. All they need to do is allow alternate transportation, and I'm all set!

WTF makes you think that's what the terrorists have to do? Is it because that's what they did in the past? That's the kind of thinking the knuckle-draggers at the DHS use when coming up with their "state-of-the-art" security measures. They love to talk about how the terrorists are constantly innovating new ways to commit acts of terror, yet they just institute security tactics based on the LAST thing a terrorist tried. Forward thinking as only the government can do it.

Do you have any idea how vital the railroad system is to the US economy? Rail passengers don't amount to jack-squat compared to the freight that is moved. Sure, the terrorists might kill or maim a few hundred passengers in a Madrid-style bombing or high-speed derailment, but the economic impact of a rail system in disarray would be staggering.

Tru-dat. Look at the location of the big rail yard in Avon. One rail car full of Anhydrous Ammonia, and all of Indianapolis is within the prevailing wind patterns. How's that for some panic inducing sh*t?

Shoot... I wasn't even thinking of terrorists blowing up chemical cars. I was just thinking about them prying up some sections of rail and waiting for the carnage to start. Your point is even scarier!!!

Has anyone seen the results of any survey showing if the majority of the US public approves or disapproves of the new TSA guidelines?

    Just curious...
CBS had one that showed something like 80% in favour of molestation and porn. And a radio host I caught today had one yesterday that showed something around 50+% in favour of it. Personally, I'm not buying it. This is one of those time where a much larger sample is needed.

Yeah...my guess would have been really low percentages approving of the changes.

I saw an interview with the TSA head-cheese a few minutes ago. He said he understands that the public is upset with he new guidelines...but he's not changing them.

Well come tomorrow I am going to have a chat with my boss about not flying for work. I would rather drive back from delieving a truck to Pheniox AZ or the five days from Seattle WA. Like someone else said, should I have to pay them after they get done?

Anyone consider that this might be meant to seriously limit the business of the airlines. Most of them are close to going under.

It would be terrible if the govt had to bail them out and own the airlines as well as Amtrack.

The mainstream media is not credible in any statistics they manufacture.

I believe the opt out day has widespread recognition, someone I work with has heard that some are planning to opt out of the imaging scanners & choose the patdown, knowing that they will be overwhealmed & understaffed for such an event day before Thanksgiving.

Also that some may be going Kilt commando!

Is anyone on this forum planning to fly that day?
