I've Ckd my schedule & I would be free that day. If you wouldn't mind having a true newbie to INGO & NEVER being on a range since Boy Scouts doesn't scare you then I would like to see what an INGO shoot is all about. Unfortunately I wouldn't have anything wild or cool to bring, no knockem down rifle or scare the world handgun. Just a .22 rifle /revolver , a factory Remington 870, and my XDS-9.

If you are not scared neither are we.

Well my biggest fear would be , not being able to add to the fun. I don't want to be a leach, but I really would like to see what goes on. By other threads I've been reading I believe I'll need an armed guard for my .22 rounds. LOL.

Nah, I will have a least 1K with me.
Thing about these shoots, If you are not a nut job or an idiot most of us want you to shoot and enjoy our guns.
Show some range sense and you will have a great day. I never ever go home not having learned something and having met good people.

I will have a brick of 22's with me and a pistol or rifle to shoot them.

Not being able to add to the fun? Brother all you need do is show up and you've done that, it isn't a contest. Bring something and that you like to shoot. Ask before you shoot something that isn't yours and if they say yes, you aren't a leach. As I said, this isn't a contest to see who has more guns or the coolest gear, it is a simple day at the range with some friends. :)

You make it more fun just by showing up. :ingo:

Ok, I'm in. In Don's rules he stated no FMJ on cowboy range... Again a newbie question.. That's all I've ever seen for my XDS for practice ,so does that mean I can only shoot my .22 revolver on the cowboy range. Probably answered my own question there. Only seen the cowboy range on the tube , but I thought I had seen semi auto's on there. Brazil will be an hr ahead of me so I may be fashionably late. Is this INGO members only or escorted non members too? May have a wife or brother-in-law tagging along .

There is a different range for modern weapons so all you have to do is stay off the Cowboy range unless you borrow a gun and lead ammo which is a posibility. There is a specific range for he rimfire so stay there for your .22's. Bring your whole family and friends if you wish. This is an INGO Open Shoot so all are welcome within reason meaning don't show up with a bus full.

There will also be guns you may want to shoot of other people so you can bring extra ammo for them if you want to do so as well.

I think this is the list of what I will bring...
SA-M7 milled AK and a case of ammo (762x39)
    SU-16C and a case of ammo (223)
Ruger Redhawk .45 Colt with a bunch of ammo
Beretta 8040 Cougar 40 cal and a bunch of ammo

    List subject to change. :)

ID, you can shoot my Redhawk on the Cowboy range should you wish to do so as I am loading up CAS Loads to bring with me not "Ruger Only" type loads that leave your hand, wrist, arm and shoulder numb.

I very well may try some of your weapons.. Thank you for the offer. Good to have an idea what ammo will be needed. The first two you mentioned sound interesting & the redhawk sounds like something the real cowboys would have been using. Not sure if anyone recognizes my handle but my very first thread I posted was "why so many" I might get a better understanding to the answers I was given after this . It really sounds like it's going to be a good time. Oh, and the reference about the bus load... Surely that has no bearing that I live close to Kentucky , RIGHT ? LOL

Bring anyone who may have a positive attitude about our passion/hobby.
As to my guns, again, show some range smarts (4 rules/safety) and you are welcome to run them. I bring ample ammo for this reason.

The 4 rules were in place long ago in my childhood, so that is done. I trying to get my wife on board more cause she does think I need to carry "all ways". Might even get her to start if things go well. My brother-in-law is retired guard & has probably as many weapons as some of you.He is a member of NRA & member of Redbrush gun club down here. He would probably fit in better on INGO than me. Haven't talked to him about this yet. We'll see on both points.

I didn't mean to bring ammo because I won't have enough, just explaining polite rules to him for the future. As for the Redhawk, it isn't a cowboy gun. It is double action so it is more of a modern revolver than anything else. If it were a Blackhawk it would be more cowboyesque and I can easily bring one of those as well. In fact I will for the heck of it. I am bringing the Redhawk because I carry the beast in the winter time and want to get in some practice with it as things grow colder.

So far this looks like a good meet, hope we can get a lot more folks signing up as we close on the date.

Sorry, don't mean to hog the thread here.. Doing some Ckg on the ammo, is there a general preference for brass casing or metal casing for any rounds I may buy. I do not reload so if someone else cares then I'll concentrate on brass only. Metal is less expensive here but I can get either. Thanks

Well, steel case 762x39 or 223 is fine for me but I am already bringing 1000 of each so use you own judgment if you can not shoot these. As for teh handguns, I reload so I like brass. I will be bringing a bunch of those too though it depends on how many I get made for the 45 Colt. The 40 cal I should have a bunch of though. The 45 Colt stuff needs to be a lead, non jacketed bullet if you want to shoot on the cowboy range so keep this inind.

The thread is for planning for the shoot so ask if you need to... I am also hoping to see more folks say they're coming too. :)

If you truly love your guns.....Brass.

Like I said, we will have plenty of ammo so no worries here.

I will have plenty of ammo for the 45 Colt as well. I found a bit more than I thought I had here. I should have plenty of 40 cal to shoot too. The rifles will have a case of ammo each, if I am able it will also all be loaded in magazines.

Those who hav newly signed up, WOOT! :rockwoot:
I am also pretty syre that there are some who will show and not mention that in the thread so this should be a good turnout indeed...
If that is the case then I will have further incentive to make this an annual event. Of course this depends on Don and whether or not HE wants it to be an annual event. I can say that the nicer we are and the cleaner we leave the range the better he will like us and want us to come back. So let's try to shoot straight so we don't damage the target standards, make sure the targets are placed on them properly goes a long way for this one. Those of you who do stay late I hope will be willing to hel clean things up from garbage and the brass/steel cases that are left behind by either taking it with you or placing it in the proper buckets for disposal. All trash and all targets need to be taken down and put into the trash barrels. NO JACKETED BULLETS ON THE COWBOY RANGE will make for no damage to the targets on the stages.

In short, if we treat the range as if we own it we should be in great shape for this meet to continue into the future for a long time. :)

Here again are the particulars so I hope we see a lot of people there:
WHEN: Sunday October 12, 2014. Starting at 11AM.
WHERE: Proteq Shooting Academy in Brazil, IN WEBSITE
    WHAT: INGO Open Shoot

Directions to the range are on the WEBSITE so look there if you are wondering. There is also a phone number to call if those directions aren't enough and Dan will give them to you I would hope. If not I can try when we are closer to the day.

We will be on the lower range so bring whatever you want to shoot. Class III weapons are welcome if you are legal of course. Bring your handguns, rifles, shotgun and yourself for a good time. There will be no fee to shoot, just fill out the waiver if you are not already a member. If you are a member you are good to go. We can use the CAS stages but only soft lead ammo is to be used on them. There is a 300 yard rifle range and seven pistol standards to shoot as well as a few hanging steel targets. It's a great place to shoot so let's make this year as much fun as last year. Maybe some of you who weren't able to make it last year con this year too.

    Supervised children are welcome.

Members and guest both will need to sign a waiver so come to the lower range to do this FIRST, then have fun.

Make sure you read Don's post on the first page too.

Hello All it is that mean old Range Owner again. I see some questions that need answers.

    1. All Calibers up to and including 50 BMG are welcome at this event. Try NOT to purposefully break stuff, some will happen, but there is no need to strive for it. If you have something bigger to shoot - contact me. The largest ammo shoot here so far was a 20MM.

    2. NO armor piercing Ammo in any calibers. If the bullet (not the case) sticks to a magnet - DO NOT SHOOT IT AT MY PLATES. I run 3/4 inch AR 500 plate steel targets on the RIFLE ranges. The last time I priced that steel (2012) it was OVER $3400 for a 4 foot x 8 foot sheet. I suspect you now understand why I DO NOT allow excessively destructive projectiles.

    2. The Cowboy range is restricted to PISTOL calibers with LEAD BULLETS for your SAFETY and it's SURVIVAL. The Cowboy targets are 3/8 to 1/2 mild steel and are easily damaged. Some are very CLOSE and if you hit them with a JACKETED projectile - it will be hitting you back (LEAD fragments, but those encased projectiles seldom break apart). Hard hitting magnum ammo is also a bad choice on these targets due to it's increased energy. Cowboy shooting is DESIGNED around the concept of hitting (ringing) the targets, not blowing holes through them or knocking into the next county. Light recoiling ammo lets the Cowboy shooter recover quickly and engage the next target. Enjoy the game using the correct ammo. All styles of pistols (with the correct ammo) are allowed on the Cowboy range for fun and practice, but at the Matches there are restrictions. On INGO Day you can shoot any pistol type and caliber, but obey the LEAD ONLY rule. Basically that means RELOADED ammunition, because it is difficult to buy LEAD bullet ammo over the counter. Roll your own or trust a friend.

    3. EVERYBODY will SIGN the Special ONE DAY Range Release for this INGO Event. Current ProTEQ Patron's and Newbies will all sign that day. If you want to come back you can fill out the regular range release and join as a ProTEQ Patron.

    4. All ages are welcome. If you bring a minor you are RESPONSIBLE for said minor.

    5. I have NO PROBLEM with this becoming an ANNUAL event, if you choose to make it so. Discuss it and contact me through Warthog. A lot of training, qualifications, special events, and just fun practice occurs on the property weekly so plan ahead, pick a date, and get on the calendar well in advance so you get the time frame that works for most of you.

    6. The Parke County Covered Bridge festival is that week end. Traffic going NORTH through Brazil IN and SR-59 is HEAVY in the morning 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM and again going SOUTH through Brazil on SR-59 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The traffic congestion is all created within the City of BRAZIL. GO AROUND Brazil, AVOID Brazil, & stay OFF of State Road 59. During the BUSY traffic times avoid driving upon or crossing SR-59. NO SR-59 = Very Little traffic congestion. The range is located on 1200 N (previously called Rio Grande Road) it is a major East/West Country Road through Clay and Vigo Counties. The range is 2 miles WEST of SR-59. Get yourself to the West of SR-59 and to the North of Brazil and you'll have very little problem with traffic. 1200 N (Rio Grande Road) is easy driving and not backed up with traffic EXCEPTED at SR-59.

I look forward to your being here. I'll try to be on the range some, but I never know my work load till the day hits. If you have questions look back to my first post early in this thread, to the website, or email me. You can contact me here - proteq.us

Crap, I forgot abut the Covered Bridge Festival.

I just picked a date that wasn't taken at random. I shoulda made it the 26th and you all could have brought Birthday presents for me as well. :) As we do these we will get better at them. Last year was a good one, this year looks to be a good one and who knows, maybe we can break it loose next year and have one so great the other regions will wish they could come to ours. (of course they can if they're willing to take the drive but that's another thing)

One thing I did forget is that we will be there for a while so you're welcome to bring food and a cooler full of anything but alcoholic beverages to keep yourself going.

As usual, NO INTOXICANTS ON THE RANGE WILL BE TOLERATED. If you show up intoxicated, expect to be asked to leave as well. This wasn't a pproblem last year and I don't expect it to be this year but I don't want somebody shoing up and saying I never said we couldn't. :)
