I dropped my exemptions from 2 to 1 and I'm having an additional $30 taken out of my check weekly. Hopefully next year I will be in better shape.

My little sister explained to me that if I elected to give the government more out of my weekly paycheck, I could get a bigger refund. I told her I would rather put money in a jar than rely on someone giving me back my money.

Our return consists mostly of the 529 tax credit from Indiana.

No. not really. You can get money from producers if you don't produce. And if you do produce and give the government a loan they will pay some of it back interest free.

Haven't got it yet, but saving half of federal and the other half is paying off a medical bill from the birth of my daughter (and mothers care also). State will go towards another part of the delivery of my daughter (doctors portion that wasn't in the hospital portion). We are buying a trailer for our bicycles, we had planned to use part of our federal refund, but a bonus from work I wasn't expecting will take it.

Makes me think of the perennial interviews in front of the post office just before midnight on tax day...

They ask folks why they wait until the last minute, and everyone says "procrastination"... still waiting to see someone say "because I owe and I'll be damned if I send in the check one moment before I have to...". I'm sure they are there, but the tape never makes the air... no such thing as media-originated fake news... nothing to see here... move along... move along.
