A saw a "Sesame Street" DVD from one of the early season that had a parental warning sticker on it with "some material may not be suitable for children."

The Simpsons tv show came out when I was 10-11 years old. I was not allowed to watch it. Dad said it disrespected a fathers role in the family dynamic, and made men (all-be-it cartoon men) out to be stupid helpless drunk fools. As well as created the mindset that it was ok for a child to be rude, mouthy and disobedient.

It made me so mad the he would not let me watch the most popular show on tv at the time. Turns out he was right. In hindsight, it looks to have been a tipping off point in tv. It’s hard to find a show now in tv or film that even remotely paints a positive male figure in the family dynamic. Most are bumbling idiots that can barely manage everything without the help of the super hero Mom.
