I have 2 first gen. Toyota's, a Tundra(2000) and a Sequoia(2001)with the indestructable 4.7 v8.Both are low mileage (225k)ish,and 400-500k is very common. They as far as a 4x4 are cheap to buy,and cheap to run.A used 4.7 can be had for 400 to 600 $.A used tranny,200-400$ and problems out of them in general is uncommon. They get 20+on the interstate and go through the snow. The frames are the 1st gens problems.Mine are from the south, and I expect 500k plus from each of them.

Hell, my barn is full of parts for them.;)

We were cleaning up a little a few weeks ago and my wife asked, can we get rid of all this "junk"?

Junk?:n00b: Honey, that's not junk. It's a tilt steering column from square body Chevy, and a power steering pump, and a uncracked dash, and a instrument cluster with factory tach, and a AC unit, and a turbo 400 tranny, actually two turbo 400 trannys, and a 1972 350 with a 4 bolt main, and a...

Junk? I though after 23 years I had her trained a little better than that.

I used both of my T-400's when we built the drag cars. Indestructible if properly assembled with just a few hard parts.
We still have a fresh T-350 though...:)

I want a Toyota Tundra now. 1 million miles? Wow.

Wow! a Toy with 1 Million miles!
    OK, I'll stop being snarky.
The first vehicle I heard of with 1 million miles(besides an OTR truck) was a CUMMINS!
There is even an owner with over 2million miles! The Six Million-Mile Man !! - Dodge Cummins Diesel Forum
Granted, these guys haul for a living, but hey, it's 2 million miles!!!

I'm at 466K+ on my 1999. Saying that, I wouldn't look at anything with over 120K on the meter(when buying used).
Last year, I put a little over 1K into maintenance(parts, oil, etc.) on the truck. The only thing that sucked about that was installing a lift pump in sub-10-degree weather.
Yeah, I got some rust that needs fixin'. It rides like a log wagon(though not as bad as a mid-80's ramcharger), and being a diesel it drips oil like a snot-nosed brat....but dangit! I love my truck!

Seems like the more you can do yourself in terms of repairs & maintenance, the more leeway you have in terms of the mileage and condition when you buy a used vehicle. What is a good find for a guy with the skills, tools, time, and desire might be a hopeless money pit for someone like me.

If you have 2 turbo 400 transmission, you and I need to talk .....

    Seriously .....

Yes I do. Both out of 4x4 trucks. One was from a truck I drove for a few years. Nobody who rode in it believed it was a 400 until they crawled underneath and looked at it. Everybody swore you couldn't make a 400 shift like it shifted. I don't know anything about building an automatic transmission, but people who did were impressed with it.:dunno:

The other is just from an old, beater 3/4 ton Chevy farm truck that I bought for parts and scrapped out.

Now, if I just knew which one was which.
