I have my 1911 by my bed I would use that but I live in a small apartment. If I had a bigger home I would go with my shotgun

No doubt in my mind: a short barreled pump action shotgun. 12 or 20 guage for man or woman. It'll say Hello to any and all bad boys that come a knockin'

I said one should be sure a round has been chambered correctly before announcing one's presence to possible threats.

Didn't say a gun had to be stored with a round in the chamber.
