    No need to buy.
I've had this little jewel ever since 1989, just biding its time for the day that it finally gets taken out for deer.
    That day has arrived.

Ruger M77 .30-06 topped with Leupold Vari-X III 2.5-8x36 scope.

I'll probably just build a 458 socom and be done with it. That way I don't have to switch guns depending where I'm hunting

Another excuse to get the Mossberg MVP in .308 i've been wanting. ;)

It passed for those not in the know yet.
Kool. I just picked up on a mvp flex in 308. Love it. Has the AR feel to it but in a bolt action. Just finished it up yesterday with a 4-12×44 vortex scope. I also changed out the grip and stock with magpul.

I have no plans on getting anything new. Just waiting for them to change the regulations again to be a bit more common sense with the wording and not just listing specific calibers.

Sorry still want to take my VZ out for deer until then the 44 gets all the love.

    Great work there.
It would also be interesting for those guys who form their own cases (.30-06 Ackley Improved as one example).
Without a case gauge and a micrometer to check dimensions, it would be just about impossible to distinguish between the standard Springfield and the P.O. Ackley.

I'm not tacticool, but think the .300 AAC is pretty much the same thing as .300 Whisper.
JD Jones developed the Whisper and declared sole rights to it
So they changed it ever so slightly and gave it a different name.

Kinda like what Remington did with the .357 Max (vs Elgin Gate's .357 Supermag).

Again, we're pretty confident that the Legislature is going to add suffixes to the listed cartridges before the hunting regs are released this summer. We know for a fact that in the conference, Senator Steele asked for .300 Win Mag to be legalized, and the NRA the .30-06 Springfield. The legislators just aren't gun savvy enough to have realized that by shortening the names down, they have legalized more. The bill's author is aware of the error, so now we must wait and see if it is corrected on technical day or not.

    Chapter 1 Cartridge Nomenclature
“The truth of the matter is that the American “system” of cartridge nomenclature really hasn’t any system to it, and can only be learned through reading and learning.” 1.

The present language of HR1231 is sufficient “as is”. No deer or politician will be able to detect any difference between any of the chambered rifles, with all of the cartridge variations because each of the cartridges will be very effective. So what if the number of cartridges exceeds five. Looks like the 30-06 and .300 were last minute conference committee additions anyway. The whole matter just makes us look like amateurs who lack “reading and learning”.
So leave it alone and act like it was the plan all along.

As mentioned before, I have no problem with them all being legalized. I just don't want people to be under the impression that every .300 will be legal, go out and spend a thousand on a rifle, only to have the Legislature clean up this bill as an Indiana General Assembly insider has alluded to and their rifle is not legalized.
