    The Magpul grips do look and feel nice, and the price is right. My son has a pair on his 1911. Back in 2008 when I purchased my stainless 1911, I don't recall G10 laminate grips being available. I purchased Alumagrips, machined hard anodized (black) aluminum grips with an ambi safety cut. These grips have a machined checkering pattern that is grippy but comfortable. Only problem I have had is the grip screws want to loosen. Fixed this by installing a thin plastic washer between the grip screw and the grip
