    I generally like the idea of running, but don’t lie to run.

    My wife and I run a 5k every spring and fall for the last 3-4 years. Lasts falls time was around 42 minutes and some change. I just ran last week and am down to 33 minutes.

    I am actually starting to enjoy running- kind of crazy...

    That is how it works! Keep doing it more...like it more. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, have a growth mentality about it, and don't compare yourself to others. You can Corona-proof yourself to a great degree, without ever getting "good."

    Uh…..I am confused.....make all 5....:):
    Well, I shot horribly last Saturday. I love my t-bolt but really haven't shot it in off hand nor seated and it really showed. Missed 3 out of 5 shots after lap #1. 3 × 200 yards of penalties put me well behind the other runners.

    Seated was worse! Couldn't get comfortable behind the gun & missed 4 out of 5 for 800 yards of penalties. That nearly killed me. LOL

    Determined to not run any more penalties, I shot the prone targets clean.

    Pics so you guys can have a good laugh at my expense. I had a few real close misses and one disk hanging by a chad.

    I'll be running this again in the fall. Miss less, run less, I hope!

    Full out sprint for very short distances, a lot. Hard run for any real distance, very rarely. Mostly get cardio through martial arts. I have ran and rolled with all my gear many times. Best way for me to figure out if I need some adjustments to the retention on my holsters.

    I'm inspired!

    While I don't have dedicated runs, I think of this thread and often turn the 100 yards from the back of the garden to the house into a run rather than the walk.

    I tried something new last weekend, a mile as fast as I could, then throw on the plate carrier, 25 pushups as fast as possible, 25 box jumps, 100 jumping jacks, and a full .20 of a mile sprint, to the range, Move down range tactically shooting Rifle and pistol, at staggered targets. It really showed me where I need improvements

    2017 I weighed 300 pounds at 27 years old, I could barely keep up with my 3 year old boy. Changes were needed in my life.
    2018 I weighed 175, running 13 miles every other day, then I started strength training (Strong lifts 5x5).
    2020 I weigh 210 solid, pushing/pulling 1530 lbs every other day in my workouts (Dead lift 450, Squat 405, Barbell Row 225, Overhead press 175, and Bench 275).

    Life changes are hard AF but worth in the end.

    I think cardio is secondary to strength. In most civilian SD engagements we'll be called on to exert maximum effort for a short period of time. Unless we're part of a modern day militia engaging in prolonged engagements or scouting, it's unlikely being able to run 10 miles will be more important that being able to squat/deadlift your body weight or multiples of it. Just my opinion of course.

    Agreed and disagreed, it depends on what type of training or martial arts experience you have. Take BBJ, Judo, Kempo, Boxing, and wresting for example, is strength important?
    Yes, but in most of those martial arts/sports you are using your opponent's weight, strength, and momentum against them. You wouldn't be using much brute strength against them, but you'd be using a constant stream of endurance/cardio.
    If you think cardio isn't important then set a timer and go full force all out on a 100lbs sand bag for 5-10 minutes. You'll realize fairly quick a powerful punch thrown 10 times isn't as useful as several more medium punches.


    I studied Kempo for seven years, and our mentality was dodge, evade, counter, and capture. I loved fighting against guys who threw everything into a few punches because of how tired out they'd become. Makes sure short matches.

    Congrats! That is no easy task at all, man!

    I have dropped around 120lbs since 2018 and can finally do IWB carry comfortably lol.

    I’m glad to see some testing going on.

    With SA being preached everywhere I am surprised at how many Do not notice many of today’s shooters do not test their equipment. At the range we see so many shooters try to hold their gun in the holster as they run, get on bikes, jump out of a pickup bed etc.
