I just saw this on channel 13.

As others have indicated, there are every day chemicals available to make all sorts of "dangerous" things. Heck, we used to make our own gunpowder with ingredients from Hook's Drug Store! It didn't go boom, but it made for some great smoke bombs! (Can you tell I was a latch-key kid?)

Side note: Did you know that table sugar is a reasonable substitute for charcoal when making home made gunpowder?
