I don't know how you guys in Indy stay...Porter County seems to be the least crappy of all the counties in Indiana that I have been through. Lake County can be pretty rough, but (with the possible exception of Gary) no moreso than Indy.
porter the least crappy its slowly turning into gary :D

I see some people are going to carry an actual gun today (instead of a mouse gun)... good.

The only question is (assuming you aren't working/traveling in a NPE), why aren't you carrying like that everyday?

I'd be willing to bet if we made a list of 10 people who could be attacked today "Farmer on his property in Lowel" would be last on the list.

You never know when it's going to be "on".

It's silly to up arm yourself today because of the chance of running into this guy is far less than running into someone else who could harm you.

    :twocents:

I drive a school bus to and from school as well as teach in the school shop during the day. Arming myself is not an option. When not in school/on school business, I have been armed for years. I myself am silly I guess. I always have a gun in the seat of the truck as my "mouse" gun is in my waistband. I did make a silly mistake stating that this morning. I was fishing, funny, either people make fun of a mouse gun or a 9 not being enough gun. I carry what I am comfortable with. Am not trying to antagonize you, just answering this as I see it in this evening's light. Oh, my old horse that was down and dying, was put out of her misery with this "mouse" gun. Now carrying a 12 gauge on my back 24/7 would be kind of "silly".

    Lol.

The "reaction" is chalked up like any other SITUATION that just comes up out of no where. 1/10 people in the US flew a flag prior to 9/11, 6/10 people flew flags after. Everyone is a patriot after a tragedy.

People in the workplace run around whispering (Corporate's coming today) when this is irrelevant. Suit up and do what you're supposed to everyday and you don't have to change yourself for anybody or any situation.

CLIFFS: You should be exercising your rights BEFORE a tragedy, not become the statistic.

Interesting reading all the hub-bub going on up in the Lowell area..The wife and I were up in Meriville yesterday to buy her a new/old ride and as I was finishing up the paperwork the salesperson was trying to make small talk and was telling me all about these incidents...As I am sitting in front of him with my PPS at the 5 o'clock CC and I made a mental note not to talk about taking up beekeeping next spring with my neighbor...Never so glad to get out of the area afterwards...dont see how you guys live up there.....but I am glad you're all safe...

Thanks for tell us to be safe. However as has been stated before bad things by bad people can happen ANYWHERE & at ANYTIME. This crazy gunman is still out there somewhere and thus until caught the entire area (ie. world cause he could be anywhere by now) is not safe from him.

But note he is just one of many in the area that are bad. :faint:
Don't focus too much on him but more on your daily surroundings. Take time to kiss the family and enjoy the simple things in life you like. (ie. Bringing beer, eating a double-cholcolate cake, running with your dog, visiting grandma at the nursing home, etc...) cause you never know when you or those you love may be called into heaven.

Well, I have been studying Statistics for the last 5 hours, and for the past 2 hours of that time, I have successfully consumed 4 Miller Lites. I don't know if that qualifies my epiphany, but it certainly makes me feel smarter.

And, interestingly enough, I just stepped outside to have a smoke, and unusual number of police are patrolling the area. Additionally, a helicopter has been low flying the area for the last ten minutes.

So, in view of the latter, I guess my epiphany was wrong, but like so many bad decisions and ideas in life, it felt so right at the time.

Haha...too funny! Why does that sound so familiar? :yesway:

It seems the Indiana State Police have a professional sketch artist on their staff (at least he's still not in grade school art class).

In late: Where he shot that farmer was about 1 mile from my house. My wifes entire family farms that area. Needless to say I was a little anxious to make that phone call to find out if they were alright.
