Fat, drunk and stupid was the actual statement from the movie Animal House. What is really pitiful is to quote a movie pretending like it was your idea and then misquoting the actual statement made. Id rather be fat and lazy before just plain stupid...

WOW you guys are so awesome.... LOL.. Talking all kinds of **** about fat people. Do you feel better about yourself now??? Yea thats what a real man does he talks **** about those who are less fortionate than himself so he can elevate himself above them and feel superior, and he does so without ever considering what plight the person he is making fun of might have suffered. WOW yea you guys rock LOL. You think like hey look at that fat bastard over there what a piece of **** he must be to let himself go like that LOL.. Don't ever bother considering maybe he has vein disease in his legs and cant walk or maybe a back problem that limits his mobility because he worked 70 hour weeks every week since he was 14 years old under conditions where you as the ruff tough hard man you are wouldn't have lasted a day.. NOOOO nothing like that matters. Only how we can point at them so we can feel better about ourselves. What a piece of **** how badly you must truly feel about yourself that you need to point hurt at someone else that is already in pain... You people are incomprehensible. Your the ones that should be locked up... I feel sorry for you...

I wouldn't have a problem with people living the way they wanted if I didn't have to pay for it.

Since I'm financially tied to them, I get to judge them, point laugh, taunt, etc. It's the only way I'll get any value for my tax money.

How old are you?? How many years have you been paying into Social Security? Hey guess what.. I have been paying into social security for over 33 years.. When social security was made it was kinda like an involuntary savings account the government made you have so you wouldn't be a burden on society as you got older or sick. Now none of you young kids expect to see it anyway so you just see it as another tax. no one remembers the reason it was implemented in the first place. Your social security number is tied into everything even though it was stated in the original deal that social security was for social security purposes only. It even says that on the older cards, yet today it is tied into everything..

If my observation makes me a jerk then I'll own that, both pennies of it in fact. I just find it amazing that folks have no sense of pride in either themselves, ownership, workmanship etc... and driving 75 yards to get a greasy fast food meal just happened to be the pinnacle of lazy to me. I've been in that guy's shoes before so I know how it feels. At one point in my life I lost sight of my fitness goal due to life getting in the way and I clocked-in at just under 300#. One day it clicked that I needed to change, both for my health and my self-image.
It occurs to me that some of you are taking my post way out of context, which I should have figured would happen. My only regret is that I used the word "stupid" in the title. The play on words from Animal House that I was intending didn't sound right with just fat and lazy.
I believe that laziness and entitlement are major stumbling blocks in our society and it is obvious in so many areas of life. From work to personal health to housing, folks just seem to think that it's all about the hedonism. A little responsibility and pride in all areas of life would do a whole lot of folks a whole lot of good. :twocents:

If only it was just SS... Don't forget my medicare, medicaid, SCHIP (which now extends to parents), and Obamacare which forces my private insurance to take on ridiculously high risk people.

I think I get a say in how people live if I'm the one paying for it. Don't want me telling people how to live? :dunno: Stop sending me bills. Easy peasy. I'll take care of mine, you take care of yours and we'll live and let live.

Are you actually suggesting you have the right to tell someone else how to live, while they should have no right to tell you how to??? OMG I thought this topic was just misguided, now I see you truly are insane..Is your name Hitler or Idi Amin???

Hey I know here is a great idea why dont we just take all the people we dont think fit into our own personal vision of how things should be and line them up against a wall and shoot them. Hey that would fit right into your plan easy peasy right??? LOL WTF....

No I don't have the right. A right is something you can exercise in the absense of government. For instance, I have the RIGHT to keep everything I earn. Don't need government to do that. I have the RIGHT to live. I have the RIGHT to persue my happiness as long as that does not infringe on the rights of others. I have the RIGHT to defend myself. I have the RIGHT to basically do as I please without being harrassed by proxy of the electorate.

My rights have been taken from me and theft of my earnings is now legal. I'm just saying that as long as we're taking away rights, lets go full bore with it. If someone can take my money, I want to be able to tell him how to live while he's using my money.

When I become a net consumer (never plan to), I would expect the net contributors to tell me how I should best be using their money as well.

You know, I try not to be a sensitive guy.

I'm fat... my screen name gives that away.

But, I'm about 75 pounds less fat than I was a year ago.

I do think it is interesting that people seem to make a ton of judgments about those of us who are "big boned".

I'm very successful professionally, make strategic decisions every day, serve on Boards... and I eat too much. Why? Hell, I don't know. But I do it.

It is strange that when I checked into INGO this morning the first thread I saw dealt with members not being asses to LEOs so much. You know, be the nice and friendly INGO full of camaraderie and friendship.

Then thread #2 I see is from a Moderator whose "First rule is not to be a jerk" obviously saying something that would be perceived by at least some people as rude. Kinda conflicts with the first "rule".

Anyhow, I'm not offended by the OP's thread. I know I'm fat and I'm taking measures to try and control it. I would bet I'm probably in better shape than some skinny folks on here.

But, the irony of this whole thread is not lost on me.

I think it's logical that people would be upset with those that are unhealthy.

    1) We know that people who lead unhealthy lifestyles incurr more medical cost.

    2) We know that all medical costs are shared

    3) We know that some medical costs are reimbursed by the government

    4) The government forces us to pay taxes.

Even if we voluntarily enter into health insurance we still know that the unhealthy use more of that insurance resource than the healthy and that fosters resentment.

Therefore, I propose that each man hoe his own row and that way no one has any stake in another person.

Sound reasonable? I stop paying redistributive taxes and no one complains about people being unhealthy. win-win

Yea I know both sides of the coin also, that is why this sort of talk pisses me off so much. In 2001 I weighed 350 pounds and I am only 5'6" tall... I went from a 56" waist to a 38" waist in 11 months and lost 160 pounds. I kept that weight off so long as I was healthy until 2009 when me being a man that takes care of his own and if I cant afford a doctor with no insurance I just suck it up and trudge forward ignoring my own pain. Finnaly from lack of treatment over 10 or 15 years, I succumbed to severe vein disease in my legs and a never treated back injury unable to walk or stand for any length of time, in just 2 years I regained most of the weight and also developed COPD and sleep apnea becoming disabled. But ya know what... I still take care of myself and support a family with no outside or government help. I also know I wont be able to keep it up forever. I feel I have paid my dues in spades. If I do in the future take some sort of assistance It will not be any of you paying my way. I have long since paid my dues over the course of my life. I moved out of my parents house when I was 16 I have been on my own my whole life. It really agrivates me people that just assume they are better than someone else simply because a person is over weight or different in some way that is inexplicable to them. Just because you dont know the whole story or cannot perceive why a person is as they are, does not give you the right to label or judge them. I might be a big fat crippled bastard that can barely fish, going to the range is a serious chore, I cant go to Gander Mountain to buy ammo because my breathing is so bad I cant walk that far. From the handicapped parking space to the back of the store is more than I can manage. That doesn't make you better than me. Nor does it give you the right to judge me...

WOW bummer for you, you dont fit into the way I see things, I guess that puts you on the wall...Its a great idea so long as it doesn't apply to you right...2000 years ago being overweight wasn't a sign of weakness but a sign of wealth and power. Only slaves were starved and skinny and not worthy of consideration.

How did you gain the weight?

Did you reduce your calorie intake while you were disabled?

Also, all of the money that you paid into the system is long gone, paid out to others. If you do go on assistance, it will be current tax payers that fund your care.

Just so you know. I apologize if you already knew that, but from the tone of your posts, it doesn't appear so.
