I've been carded lately to buy fuel injector cleaner as well.

Funny, you need to be 16 to drive, but apparently 18 to maintain your vehicle...

18 to buy and carry a handgun with a LTCH, but 21 to buy ammunition for it...

School projects start in middle school, but you have to be 18 to paint them (spraypaint).

    It's tiring.

I've never been asked either - interesting.

The corporate lawyers are working overtime to ensure their businesses are protected from any liability regarding sale/use of their products - remember, "contents of this cup is HOT" (or whatever it says) on the McDonalds coffee cup. Who would have guessed the broad who spilled coffee in her lap would actually win a lawsuit b/c the coffee was hot - and no one told her?

You are correct. Since the discussion was about buying from Walmart, and legal ages for buying in Walmart, I added legal age for buying from an FFL.

Correct, but I did actually mean buy in any form, so buy from an individual counts.

Wal-Mart isn't the only one doing this things, but they are the largest, most obvious, and apparently most restrictive. I've never gotten carded at AutoZone or Menards, just Wal-Mart. Maybe once or twice at Target...

I think it's hilarious that an 18 year old could walk into Wal-Mart with a pistol on his hip, and the clerk refuse to sell him ammo for it. If he's legal to carry it, why isn't he legal to feed it?

None of this bs makes sense to me....maybe i am old school but, if you are old enough to fight and die for your country.....you should be old enough to drink and buy ammo for your leagally possesed sidearm!!!!!!

I was with a buddy of mine who was buying .22lr at Wal-Mart and he did get asked if it was for a handgun. I was buying 9mm ammo and I didnt get asked, we figured out that it was because .22lr will fit in many long rifles and many handguns as well. But I agree with these other posts that I've read..."too many inconsistent rules"

I have bought a lot of ammunition online. Have it shipped to my home. Could someone underage, with a Prepaid Visa Card purchase handgun ammunition by this method?

All of the ammo web sights that I buy from require me to fax a copy of my drivers licence after placing my order before they will ship my order.

I'd say no, it's for my PSE compound bow.

As a child I have loaded .22lr into my slingshot & fired them against a concrete wall. (they will go off that way)
I guess I'm lucky to be alive after some of the things I have done.:)

I always buy ammo for range rounds from Walmart at 86th & Michigan...... I'm only 25 but I have yet to be ID'd for purchasing ammo...... I don't own a long gun so what does that say about Walmart employees?? The only calibers I have purchased are 9mm and 45 Auto...... To the OP, I haven't been asked what kind of gun I am purchasing the ammo for...... Also I have purchased ammo from the Walmart on north Keystone Ave..... just north or Broad Ripple...... same as before..... No ID or explanation of what kind of weapon the ammo is purchased for

My brother in law and I bought some 9mm there last weekend. The guy back in the sporting department carded us both but never asked that question. When he stopped in the front to buy cigars the cashier asked him what was in the bags that was so heavy he replied, "ammo." She then asked if it was for a handgun or a rifle... wtf is with that...
