I was at the Kroger, in Speedway, in civilian clothes, OC, as I usually do .....

I OC, a LOT more, since joining INGO, than I used to .....

Anyway, as I walked to the door, this Securatas guy, in his car,

says HEY, you know, thats illegal, and I said what ?????

He points to my handgun, and says that !!!!!

You should have asked him to tell you what law you were violating. Let the hilarity ensue.

I said Indiana issues a LTCH, NOT a CCW, and

In., is SILENT on how you carry .....

I then told him, if he was going to run his mouth,

at LAW ABIDING citizens, he might want to

listen to Guy Relford, on WIBC 93.1 on Sat.,

    afternoon, between 5pm and 7 pm .....

I then told him he would know what he was talking about,

and wouldn't look like such a jacka$$, when he was talking to someone who knows more that he does .....

We shop there as well. Same douche nozzle (I am sure it was as to have 2 of them at the same location is scary) called me out for the bottom of my Serpa being exposed.
Sarge, you know me. You can guess how the convo went...........

Man, I wish we would get some jackwagon security guards at our Kroger, the only one I've ever seen there is a little old man that is very nice. He wears the dark blue security uniform with bright white sketchers.

So I've been open carrying for about 4 months. I've been a bit worried over a confrontation in public, but as it turns out it wasn't anything to worry about. I stopped at the Kroger on Ireland in South Bend last night where I picked up two items. I went to the self checkout where I was confronted by the store security guard, a Securitas employee. He insisted that I show him my LTCH. My immediate response was to tell him that he wasn't a LEO and that I didn't need to show it to him, but he replied that he was a security guard and I should show it to him anyway. I decided to show it to him to diffuse the situation and I explained that I open carry because I want to have the fastest draw I can get if I need it. He said something about making sure I was a proper person but it was pretty clear from his demeanor that he was hostile to guns altogether. After he walked away, the self checkout cashier told me that if something ever went down she was hiding behind me! We had a nice conversation. Now, how could I have handled the rent-a-cop better?

I believe that I would have informed him with a big negative ghost rider. definitely would not show a rent a cop my ltch or give him my gun if he demanded it.

I have been lucky so far, I have never had a negative word said to be when I OC. Only positive conversations. I had a Beech Grove cop in a Speedway station ask about my Canik, and tell me he preferred CC off duty, but was glad I was carrying. Never even asked me for my LTCH
Had a female IMPD officer behind me in line in a Kroger, and she never said a word.

Just curious, when was this? Depending on when it was, it may have been illegal to conceal your handgun at the time. lol

After the meeting and greeting will there be eating?

Well Union Jack's IS right up the road, so it would be a shame not to!

And to REALLY make him nervous, we should all buy a 6 of beer. I've been told I couldnt buy beer before because I was armed AND with a minor present. (Luckily I saw a manager behind her and flagged her down and it was sorted out in 30 seconds.)

Chicago style pizza and draft beer? Always good. Buying beer while armed with a minor present... Was there an "R" in the month?

Speedway Meet and Greet (and Eat)? Count me and tbhausen in.

As for trouble OCing, I must be doing something wrong. Several years and no negative encounters.

And to think, INGO mocked me for hating Kroger...

Just looked at that thread. Equating Kroger cards with the mark of the beast and calling them Nazis for tracking your Twinkie purchases might have had something to do with the light mockery you experienced.

I'm guessing if you added OC harassment to your list of grievances, you could probably apply for refugee status at Meijer or something. :):

Not so fast Route. Meijer actively tracks* your alcohol purchases; They scan your actual DL to verify your ID. Not just a frequent card tied to you.

I'm waiting to test my hack. I stuck a black target paster smack dab in the middle of my DL Barcode. We'll see what they do when they cant scan it.

*I presume they are capturing ALL data on that barcode, not just reading the DOB embedded in it.

First problem is allowing Meijer to scan your ID.

I typically dont buy booze there. I only had them scan it once, and they did so before I could say anything. The couple times I did before they just typed in the date.

Somebody else here was complaining here that they do it, jogging my memory and I happened to have a paster nearby so I stuck one on for the next time.
