It's funny how experience differs among folks running some of the same guns. Disclaimer: I've not run any of my guns in a class setting. The best I've done on any of them is push 200 rounds through it within a half hours time right after purchase. The worst brand new gun experience I've had was with a NibX Glock 19. That thing would not feed a whole mag to save my life until north of 150 rounds. To get it to run, I had to order a guide rod and lighter recoil spring. After 150 rounds, it ran like a top with the exception of putting 95% of spent brass into my face. If you count used guns, I've had bad luck with CZ compacts in .40. I think the issue with both CZ .40 compacts and the Glock have the same roots in that the recoil springs are shared among the 9mm and .40 pistols. For the Gen 3 G19, it was running a heavier than needed recoil spring and with the CZs, lighter.

With 1911s though, I've had very few issues. Even with a Rock Island compact I used to own, if I changed the recoil spring before 500 rounds were run through it, it would run fine even with factory mags. Both of my Dan Wesson built full size 1911s (Heritage and CZ 1911A1) as well as my CCO and Commander sized DWs have been flawless. The CZ 1911A1 is closing in on 2000 rounds, CCO just north of 1000 and under 600 for the others. Except for the Heritage, each started life with a range trip that had a fast 200 or more rounds run through them with nothing but a cleaning and lube before hand. All have been flawless with no brass flung into my face.

Now, I like CZs, 1911s and Glocks and am not trying to bash anything but simply wanted to point out that a good quality 1911 can out run a Glock or even CZ. Of the 8 Glocks I've owned, only a handful have been truly trouble free. The G21, G20 and G23 have supported Glocks marketing to a large degree. The others have had at least minor issues including mags that don't drop free and BTF issues.

I got a G19 in a trade for a firearm that tops at 350. I sent it in and for the $20 shipping I got a new frame, slide, and guts. Yeah the numbers don't match but it fits me so it does car duty. I usually carry my 3913 and or CZ70 when not at work.

So as not to get to involved in the G/1911 discussions I can only say that if it fits your hand.....you feel comfortable with it......it runs well for you......you train with it and not just 2 times to the range right after you bought it and now you are an operator........run it.
Get the "Proper" spare mags for it. Get the right SD ammo for it and make sure it will eat it. Practice with it until muscle memory is well established with it.
Get a "GOOD" holster. What ever style/brand get a good one.

"It" can be a G**** or a 1911 or a SIG or a S&W etc and so on.
Know your sidearm. Understand it completely.

Training check. Range trips check. Oakleys check (thanks uncle sam), beard check (because I'm lazy and didn't wanna shave), but I'm not wearing any tactical timmy pants I'll take jeans and comfy shoes, I don't know if I have enough points to operate but I hope I won :):

In seriousness there's two handguns I've trained with and carried with my life depending on them and That's a M9 and a Glock and neither ever failed. Yeah, some people's experiences might be different and some people might not like certain guns and That's cool, but like churchmouse said if you train with it and you maintain it and it firs you, then run it and if it's a dog don't drop it. :) I had to
Deffinately make sure you are shooting your self defense ammo to check function, yeah that **** is expensive but so are funerals. Glocks eat anything or they should except ****ty reloads, good reloads yes. Good holster is paramount!!!! Preferably not nylon.

If you meet the standard then this is your new anthem https://youtu.be/l-ieIQFNjWg

There's a very fine line between drinking enough to allow you to do her and drinking too much to be able to do it at all.

Thinking about sleeping with Amy Schumer makes me think of Japanese ritual suicide. If you start to take off your pants to bang her you're hoping your buddy is standing over you with a sword to chop your junk off before you dishonor yourself for eternity. Its, that, serious

So basically you guys say Glocks & Amy Schumer are what we used to call "mopeds"??? (fun to ride until you're seen on one)
People talk stuff about Glocks until it's time to line up at the range or at a competition, then the loud voices all seem to go silent... :@ya:
I like 1911's too and I own a nice CZ, Sig 226, and other all/mostly metal guns and it's all good.
