In all of this Iron Man was my guy from the 1st comic book appearance.
A mortal man albeit a genius. The suit morphed over time to what we saw in the avengers series. In all of that it was pretty well played out. D. Jr was the perfect Tony Stark. There were some real stretches in the plot's but hey, they had a flying camo'd aircraft carrier. That is a stretch in itself.

Suspending belief is fun. It's what makes those stories so interesting to so many people. I've been a fan of iron man, hulk (who admittedly almost has the same problem Superman does), Spidey is probably my favorite Marvel character. Batman and then Flash are my favorite DC characters.

I enjoy the way Marvel ties everything together from one movie to the next.

The Hulk was never a favorite but the avengers Hulk is pretty cool.

Not to up on the Flash but Batman is another favorite.

I haven't re-watched Wonder Woman on pay per view, but I thought the movie in the theater was excellent!

I actually like some super heroes being, well, super. I do agree that it's a mistake to make Wonder Woman that powerful and to essentially neuter Superman. However, I cut my comics teeth on 1960s DC comics when Superman would juggle planets and that was just cool.

Marvel Heroes have never been as "super" and I think that works in their universe.

When I watch or read comics, I want Superman to be able to do about anything. I don't care if other people find it boring or that it requires a super villain of epic proportions to make it interesting. Bring it.

BTW ... anyone watch the Supergirl tv series? Overall I like it, but when she beat Superman's a** in a fair fight, they lost me for a while. And they've made Mon-El mostly a giant p***y, which is a disappointment because if anything, he should be as strong if not stronger than Superman.

the movie was OK. The actress was mesmerizing. Having a bit of a hair fetish (fetish is a bit harsh, more like a deep appreciation), I was pleasantly entertained.

She is quite elegant. Kind of like a very athletic Audrey Hepburn.

I prefer a little more meat on the bones, but I definitely recognize and appreciate her features.

As impressive as the hair is . . . especially when it moves in super slow motion . . . she has other stuff too!

She has the stance. The attitude. She is Wonder Woman. Beyond the last battle scene she filled the roll. Elegant fits.
The tin-type (I believe) picture was a great way to tie in the time warp. That Bruce Wayne found it for her was slick.

I enjoyed the movie when I saw it in the theater. I am probably going to pick it up on Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital this weekend.

I thought the story was well done, the acting was well done as well. I look forward to the next movie.

I am also a big comic book nerd. Though I wasn't big into DC.

Marvel's characters, especially the most powerful, always have their own demons/weaknesses to fight as well as the enemy. Hulk has a ton of baggage that he has to deal with, which makes him interesting and fallible in some situations. Tony Stark also had a ton of his own demons to battle as well. Batman was always the fundamentally "flawed" character in DC that had that similar appeal to the Marvel characters. Never really got into the rest of DC.

Still haven't seen Wonder Woman. I need to check it out at the Red Box.

You actually went to a movie theater?

Yes. I had to see a giant Wonder Woman in front of my face.

Most of Marvel's heroes (even the "gods") have been not that big of a departure from human compared to the DC universe in its heyday. At one time Superman was at least the equivalent of a Celestial from Marvel, but then they made him a wimp that Darkseid or half a dozen other villains could beat up. Sad.

Which reminds me that a move version of Jack Kirby's New Gods/Forever People/Mister Miracle would be awesome!

I like the darker stories too. Darker stories can be more complicated, and therefore more interesting. If you can unpack everything about the story in one viewing it's less interesting to watch again.

I was disappointed with MOS. I bought it, but I've only watched it twice. It's just doesn't have that much depth. DC has a difficult time with Superman anyway. I think Batman is my favorite comic character, and it's because he doesn't have super powers. He defeats his enemies with resources, wit, and honed abilities. He's not a god that can only be defeated by another god. I think this is one of the reasons I really liked the Christopher Nolan's interpretation of Batman. It had it's problems too, but Batmat got hurt. He had to work hard and persevere to win. No superpowers. Just skill and resources. And a lot to unpack. I've probably seen those three movies dozens of times.

Superman needs kryptonite to even allow for the potential to lose. And that gets kinda old. Batman could not have defeated Superman without Kryptonite. We all knew that was coming. And Wonder Woman, teaming up with Batfleck & Superman, should have just led with the trick she used to defeat Aries. With the powers they established in Wonder Woman's movie, she should have been able to defeat the foe in Batman v Superman by herself.

That's the problem with lazy or idealistic writing. You write in some super awesome over the top overpowered ability to defeat an enemy in the end, and we're all just left with the question, why didn't you just lead with that? I get it, she had to be pissed because she lost her boyfriend to discover her awesome god power. But still. It just creates plot holes the next time the superhero has to face down a powerful enemy. It first requires an overpowered enemy, which causes problems of workable scale in itself, or, secondly requires them to write in some script superglue to help us forget how powerful the superhero was the last time.

Marvel has done a much better job with their scripts than that, at least trying to avoid those pitfalls. But I'll agree that some of the Avenger universe lacks depth that I think darker plots would help solve.

For history sake, Superman pre crisis and post crisis, his character has become so powerful that writers were having a hard time being creative with villians against him and fans lost interest because of how powerful he was, remember Superman of 853 century? Hence in MOS, he was nerfed and brought down to earth to make him more relatable (his struggle to fit in, keeping his powers a secret, holding himself back, understanding human ways and putting everyone else first and himself 2nd). Knowing Superman's history, I was able to appreciate MOS and it actually was the closest to the canon Superman compared to Donner's version.

Superman's weaknesses are Kryptonite, Magic and himself (as he always holds back as his first value is to not kill).

As for Wonder Woman killing Doomsday, in her movie, she was made as a God Killer, and from the looks of it, the power she used was Zeus' lightning at it's highest potential. Even if that power was used against Doomsday, Doomsday (canon version) can not be killed twice the same way. He might have died when hit but regenerate instantly since the damage is not at the cellular/DNA level. And being his origin as a Kryptonian, kryptonite destroys living tissue at a cellular/DNA level. So that Spear was more potent than Zeus' lightning. But if He was ever revived, he might be immune to Kryptonite since he can't be killed twice in the same manner. Problem is, the lightning came from Ares, Diana might not have that ability to summon Zeus' lighting. Also, the trio don't know each other's abilities (if you played pick up games in basketball, you're trying to figure out how to play with each of your teammates and that takes time, which the trio didn't have).

The difference is with Diana and Kal-el, Diana was trained to the hardest since childhood. Kal in MOS, nothing, other than moral lessons from Jonathan Kent. And just weeks of learning his abilities and was fighting a military trained Kryptonian. It became Skills vs Raw abilities. I felt his struggles in MOS.

If you watch MOS and the BvS, so many scenes we comic based. They tried to stay true as possible but with such hardcore fans, they can never satisfy everyone.

And even if not as a fan, we have became so critical with movies that instead of enjoying the movie as it is, it becomes a graded project, which it isn't supposed to be. I have stopped myself from being so critical because it ruins a popcorn moment. Same thing with gun handling in movies. I had to conciously tell myself to stop judging and just enjoy the mindless moments.

I do enjoy Marvel's tie up of every movies and how they manage its timeline. I actually love Dr Strange (Never knew his canon or followed him when I was younger), I forgot to mention earlier in my post. That movie was one I enjoyed the most in Marvel cinematic universe.

To top it all, all our childhood animated/drawn heroes became a live action and I've enjoying the ride. Now bring Thundercats and reboot He Man.

The things I tend to be critical of are the story and plot holes. I don't expect them to be true to the comics. Telling a story in 2 hours on a moving picture isn't the same as telling a story in a comic book. They get to have creative license as long as it works. I'm disappointed in WW but really for the ending.
