How so? I don't see anything illegal except for stealing and killing. And those are quite illegal in countries without the ten commandments.
Curiously, rape is not in there. But don't say the big guy's name with a bad attitude.

    :):

I'll agree with you here. If Western Culture were truly based on the 10 commandments wouldn't we have something much closer to a Judaeo-Christian Theocracy. Well. Maybe not. Probably they'd have a hard time agreeing on some things. I think there'd be at least some argument over the crime of commandment I. Probably the Jews wouldn't agree on the whole Holy Trinity thing being excluded from "other gods". And what's the current penalty for that anyway? Both Christians and Jews have progressed beyond genocide. So jail time? And where's the middle ground on the Sabbath? Jews don't believe Jesus was the fulfillment of the law. They still keep the Sabbath. So would there be a carve out for Christians?

Why do you not take this discussion to the propper threads?

You wnat to give your opinion of these beliefs but not have a real discussion with people who've dedicated their lives to them.

    About like Bill Mahr.

That falls under number 7.........and possibly number 10.

So, rape is ok if I'm not married? (#7)
Also, it's a long way from covet to sexual violence. (#10)
I might covet my neighbor's new BMW, but I sure as heck don't want to violate it.
I might burn myself on the tailpipe. :):

All Christians have the same foundation or they ain't Christian. The person decided foundation is post modernist

Oh gosh. I did not want this to turn into a religious debate. If you guys want to debate this stuff take it to the Islam is suckier than Christianity thread otherwise known as the Islam debate thread.

I'm only going to deal with the idea that seeing the subjective nature of religious belief is somehow "postmodern".

Okay. So there's no true Scotsman, right? (forgive me for saying it that way) That's not a post modernist argument. It's an argument made way before post-modernism.

Faith is a subjective matter, and you decide what you believe, for whatever reasons. Maybe fear. Maybe conviction. Maybe inspiration. Whatever. You read and interpret religious writings, you listen to religious leaders, you decide for yourself what you think is true. Others decide for themselves what they think is true. And there's disagreement, being that it's subjective. And you get to associate with those who believe what you believe, and you get to kick out anyone in your association of faith who doesn't agree with your group's interpretation. You even get to think you're the true Christian and the people who believe some key things differently aren't. It's the "me too" syndrome. It's the belief of me. But to everyone else, they're a "me" too.

That's not the same as postmodernism. Postmodernism says pretty much everything is perception and interpretation, and that there are infinite ways to interpret a thing. Okay, some of that is true. Certainly the truly subjective things like matters of faith are. Not everything is subjective. Some things are facts. Some things are objectively true. Interpretations for some things are constrained by practical limits.

Belief is internal to the person. It's individual. It's only ever collective in the sense that other people believe the same thing. The original point is quite valid, that the people to worry about are the people who actually believe to the point where they are capable of acting on things that are incompatible with American life. That fits some Muslims as compatible with Western culture. It unfits others. And both can be said of way more than just Islam.

I've been there. Done that. I am trying to limit my involvement just to the extent that it deals with the idea of Muslims' compatibility with American culture. I don't want to be dragged into the larger religious debate. Those discussions just suck the life out of people and friendships. I've seen it too many times.

Incorrect but I am no Biblical Scholar by any means. You need to talk with someone above my pay grade.
One can lead to the other.
That sounds like your personal business.
    That would be painful. :):

Edit: I think the confusion is that some want to use the strict definition of adultery for the Seventh Commandment but really the old testament uses the words adultery and fornication interchangeably. I am sure there is someone on here more educated on the subject than I am.

I noticed that when I was there...My wife says Buenos Aires is worse if you can imagine...Traffic lights in Buenos Aires are just considered "suggestions"...
That holds true for a majority of LATAM, horns are the only mode of communication whilst driving down south, sorta like Kentucky, with less Bourbon!

Remember when Palin was blamed for Giffords because of a map with targets?

Now look at the silence... when just days ago, a VA election ad of a right-winger running down brown kids with a truck... Not really seeing the media blow up about "violent rhetoric" for some reason.

According to this, donations to Gillespie have gone up.

Apparently people don't like it when they're called racist and intolerant.

Of course, some will probably claim it's because the people are racist and intolerant, and want to kill or get rid of minorities.

Latest from cbs: NYC attacker bragging about attack in hospital; pleased with his "success," says crashing into school bus an accident--meant to run over more people. Knives recovered from vehicle along w/ 10-15 pieces of paper where he wrote that ISIS will live forever.

I wonder if he knows he didn't kill any Americans.
Another interesting thing, from a comment earlier in this thread (that I assume has been corrected), is that the terrorist did not use guns. Unless anyone could possible believe that he simply did not want them, then that plays well into the hands of the left. When one compares the tools used in Vegas vs NYC, it's completely fair for the left to point out the respective body counts. Not saying I agree (I certainly don't), but one certainly acknowledge that it os probable that the difficulty in obtaining a firearm in NYC probably saved lives.

Something tells me He doesn't care! If you're not Muslim you're an infidel!

In my opinion, no need for a trial. Public execution will suffice! Tired of taxpayer money going to pay for these worthless goatf**kers to sit in prison and get a "fair" trial. Just my :twocents:

Do you truly believe money should be wasted on a trial for this guy? He has admitted what he has done along with laughing about it! This is a clear and cut fastlane for the death penalty. Eyewitness, pledging allegiance to Isis, admitting and laughing about what he has done! There is no reason i can think of to keep this guy alive any longer than necessary, and while he is alive, his only meals should be pork!

I'm not sure it matters to those people.

If you're a tourist visiting the US and spending your money there you're as good as a target I assume.

In NYC you're probably more likely to hit a foreign tourist than a US citizen anyway so maybe he knew about it.

Public trial on TV with an announcer speaking in Arabaic or whatever most of these guys speak. One who had his daughter raped and killed by ISIS. I know... how are you going to narrow down the list of candidates for the position? :xmad:

Broadcast it for the whole world to see. Then shoot him in the courtroom when it's over.
