I once bought a Cobray M-11 with four 30 round magazines a wire stock and the barrel extension with hand guard thing and shoulder strap. What ever thought was in my head was, looking back, frivolous.

I always have a good reason for my next purchase: good price, I don't have one of those, need for a competition, I have a holster it fits or ammo that fits it, etc. Recently I found a PMR-30 at my LGS and had to get it. It matched my G-Shock Rangeman, so I NEEDED it. Although, I don't really consider that frivolous.

Y nephew bought a mosin nagant. I was a little jealous so I bought one too. Then we both discovered the nagant revolver and talked about how cool it was. Well the little punk found one first and bought it and was gloating up a storm so then naturally I had to buy one too.....

Bought a Smith 2206 because I needed a target .22 and the usual suspects (ruger mark series, victory, buckmark) are too normal.

I remember a long while back an other INGO'er bought and assembled an aluminum frame for his Glock.

I'm pretty sure he did it for the sole purpose of upsetting Glawklovers. And it did. Boy did it ever upset their world. The comments. Lawdy.

I like that guy!! about the only way I'd rock a Glock.

How about "It looks cool and I want one?" I bought a S&W 5906 a few years back from CDNN on a whim. I had a 6906 and thought I would like it's big brother as well. Have no real use for it, but I like it. Same reason for the 4506.

Now that I think of it, I may have a problem... Know any support groups?

    We support you!

I brought a Beretta M-9 and a fixed stock Colt M16A4 style AR only because I used them in the Marines and wanted to recreate my deployment load-out. Its not even my current SHTF load, thats a FN SCAR 17 and a CZ-75 Phantom. I literally bought them just for nostalgia purpose, both have remained un-fired. But when you do hundreds of patrols and slept with them for years it feels oddly satisfying to just hold and reminisce.

And I will embarrassingly admit that I play dress up in the old cammies, throw on the outdated Flak and Kevlar, and try to grasp at the good old days... rifle slung and pistol in a thigh rig. :draw:

Totally better reason then mine, just because I had the leftover gear from the Army, other than the M9 itself.
Nice SHTF rifle. Absolutely love my SCAR 16, best investment ever.

Good reason in my book. I was a US Army M1A1 tanker in the 90s, was issued an M9 as my personal weapon during field problems. Finally got one of my own last year. Pure want, not need, but man is it a smooth shooter.

As the Gunner, my main weapon was the 120mm smooth bore main gun but since I can't have one of those for potential "social occasions", I built a PSA CHF M4 style AR. My LBE has a surplus flap holster where my M9 will ride along if needed. A solid combo.

Just like everyone esle...book/movie/video game interest. Probably the Walther P99. Went out and bought one shortly after I saw Casino Royale. No regrets.

My most frivolous purchase ("Hey, that'd be cool!") was an older 6-shot, 4" Ruger SP101 in .22lr...turns out it was one of the best choices I'd made as it's now one of my family's favorite little revolvers to shoot.

I have always been a sucker for limited edition runs. Tell me that there are only 200 of a particular gun made, and I'll throw money at it without a lot of rational though beforehand.

Me: "I don't think that I want to buy your gun. It's loose, inaccurate and had 4 FTF on every magazine. Plus, it has a huge idiot scratch on it and you are asking twice what it was sold for new"

Seller: "Did I mention that this was one of only 100 that came from the factory with the idiot scratch pre-installed?"

Me: "TAKE MY MONEY! TAKE IT DAMNED YOU".

The P99 is a great gun! I think it has a much better trigger than the Glock! I'm surprised that it's not more popular in the US, but it's rarity only makes it more novel.
