Muslim Views on Suicide Bombing | Pew Research Center

but when so many think suicide bombing innocent civilians is OK in defense of a religion, where does that leave you?

First, those that build personal viewpoints from stats alone will have a weak foundation for those viewpoints.

Second, did you read those stats? It nets out at less than 30% OF THOSE COUNTRIES POLLED would "often or sometimes" say suicide bombing would be appropriate "to defend Islam from its enemies."

If the INGO poll were, "Suicide missions by special forces against civilian targets in defense of United States citizens are (often/sometimes/rarely/never) justified." do you think there'd be more than 30% often/sometimes?

Third, the common INGO assertion using these kinds of stats ignores the reality that 99% of Muslims are not suicide bombers and a comparable number are non-violent, unless provoked. Kinda like all of us.

Make the poll. I’ll take that bet.

Also, this Sunday at church poll 100 Catholics and see if you get 1 to say suicide bombing is justified in defense of religion.

Then poll any other religion (not already mentioned) and see if you get anywhere near 30%.
Report back here so I can eat crow. Hurry, i didn’t have breakfast today.

I hope purple was intended, because many on INGO were willing to die after we were attacked?

So many here may understand that people who genuinely believed that that their people are under attack may resort to suicide attacks then. Based upon the last couple of pages, I was beginning to doubt.

Grossly misconstrued counselor, no one on INGO,that I’m aware of, is willing to strap explosives to themselves, or children, and send them forth into a civilian population to kill indiscriminately. Huge difference!

Not to dwell on politics, but the guy apparently being triggered by a Christmas photo?

The War on Christmas after all, this whole event was like a neatly wrapped gift for a certain President.

That's not what the question in the cited poll asked.

How many WWII bombing missions over civilian targets were considered suicide missions?

Doolittle raid comes to mind as something very near that description.

It's entirely what this thread is about. Or are you saying this is a mental illness thread?

The pope decrees that you should martyr yourself in defense of the Vatican. You getting those explosives on order? What's the over/under on that happening?

    INGO POLL:
Suicide missions by special forces against civilian targets in defense of United States citizens are (often/sometimes/rarely/never) justified." do you think there'd be more than 30% often/sometimes?
Make it. It's not even religiously based, just a general poll.

Nice shift but that's not where the intent of your original poll question came from.

It was a thread about a botched suicide attack.

Fairly recently, I opined that this guy seems more crazy dude than religious zealot. (I readily concede the two are not mutually exclusive.)

So, yes, there is a mental illness angle to this thread. And just about every attack thread.

So pretty much everyone that carries out an attack is mentally ill.....

I'll post this again: I think calling a jihadi "crazy" is a pretty bad religious slur..... we don't want to do that.
