It's been almost 20 years since I entered a Waffle House. I was still in Supply in the USAF, had a young troop returning from Operation ALLIED FORCE in 99. The plane he was on (C-141, been while that fleet is retired) broke in New Jersey. Nothing else open at 0300 but Waffle House. When I saw the "waffle batter stalagmite" on the counter next to the waffle iron I knew that would be my last Waffle House trip.

Serious question: is giving the confiscated firearms of a living individual to a family member standard procedure anywhere??

The problem is I am hardly ever in an actual GFZ. If ever presented with a criminal shooter I will most likely have another option.

WHAT?????? It's a slice of Americana, you have to go at least once. It's not that good, mind you, mediocre at best. But it's an experience.
Hardly ever go anymore since there are not many up north but always get a pecan waffle when I do. It's a carry over from my pre-K days near Atlanta. Sounds like they've gone downhill quite a bit (nor allow guns). :(

I just watched the mayor of Nashville spout more gun control bull****. I wish one of the reporters there would’ve asked about no-gun signs having force of law in Tennessee which may explain why no one shot back or why the shooter picked a GFZ in the first place.

With much respect to Mr. Shaw, who truly is a hero, more juicy red meat for the antis, just what we need right now. It isn’t often that an unarmed man stops an active shooter with his bare hands. And this one seems to have occurred during a reload or a jam, which will reignite the magazine capacity debate.
Like Kirk says, magazines and lowers my brothers. And don’t forget ammo. Lots of it.

I think that if someone had a gun there and was able to get a good shot on the shooter that they would have taken a shot regardless of TN law. At that point the gloves are off and it's about survival.

Getting into a fire fight with a guy with an AR is one of those things that makes me think I would want more than 6 or 7 rounds in my gun....

Three. Add late shift workers. When you get off at 0330, dining options are limited. Maybe not so much now that there are more 24 hour places, but it used to be the only option in a lot of places.

...and truckers (which may be a subset of "late shift workers"). I have always associated Waffle House with truck stop greasy spoons.
