    Get your facts straight.
    Get your facts straight.

    1. He did go the to front door.

Footage from the officer's body cam shows the patrolman attempt to ring the doorbell, but it didn't work. Clothing strewn on the floor and staircase inside are visible through the glass front door.

    2. There was no alarm blaring when the officer arrived.

An investigation by KCSO Major Crimes detectives determined the homeowner had accidentally set off the alarm when he came home with his sister and her infant child. The residents turned off the alarm, but forgot to reset the panic alarm, Spangler said.
A subsequent call from the alarm company went unanswered.

    .

If a doorbell didn't work when I was delivering pizza in highschool we knocked.

Why was guy strutting around his house with a gun drawn and ready if he knew he set off the alarm?

Don't have time to read 3 pages -

is this another case of "Everyone got it wrong" - proving again that multiple wrongs do not make anything right?

oh and also "now what can we learn"/ "what can we brag about how we're going to do it wrong cause we don't care cause of our rights" etc? ... ranting ...

    Ok I'm out ...

I think it's one of those cases where, "the gun-owner is on his own property, so he should be able to go full mall ninja and not have to worry about any danger."

Couple that with a scenario in one person's head that doesn't match what actually happened...

Cops should get training from pizza men? Got it.

Why was guy strutting around his house with a gun drawn and ready if he knew he set off the alarm?

Who said he said he had his gun drawn and was strutting? More fanciful scenario stuff, I guess.

Well, maybe that argument really was heated...

Setting off the alarm isn't uncommon, and once it goes off, even if you immediately disable it, the alarm co. should be notified. That's not out of the ordinary, especially since the homeowner probably knew he set off his own alarm. Come'on, he wasn't clearing his house, he was fighting with his sister. We hear it on the tape, and he admitted it.

Like you said, then he saw a [STRIKE]ninja[/STRIKE] man in dark clothing in the back yard, so he draws and flings open the door.

Most of us are armed at home, so I can draw my pistol in under a second. That doesn't mean I'm expecting trouble at that moment.

    Fools rush in.

If it is acceptable to second guess the LEO tactics here (which I see nothing wrong with)how about the home owner. If your set off the alarm make a call or just answer a call. How about be smart enough to know if you do not call or answer the call the police are coming. If you work for a Sheriffs Department you should not need this explained to you. How about we don't bash a cop for trying to come around the house and catch someone breaking into a house with the alarm going off. How about it you point a gun at someone who is not a threat to you expect to get shot at. That is what you deserve. If you have an alarm system manage it properly.

If you think there is a threat in the back yard. Look through the window before opening the door and pointing a gun a someone. Talk through the door as has been previously mentioned. It seems some situational awareness is lacking here if the home owner did not notice the cop car out front.

Pizza delivery and this situation have about zero things in common. Contributing to a discussion on a forum should involve the use of some logic and reason.

I have to agree. Some of the idiotic responses still have my head spinning.

Purple doesn't work here i guess. The pizza delivery thing is an ongoing meme all over the internet everytime a police shooting like this or a dog killing happens.

And there was nothing but homeowner critique going on, to the point of wishing he had been killed. Try to have a discussion of alternative tactics for policing and everyone gets so sensitive they feel the need to attack anyone for wanting to have a discussion.

You keep going back to this “attacking me” claim when the only attack is on bad ideas. You’ve gotten to a point where it has been explained ad nauseum why your ideas are poor. You can’t seem to accept being wrong so you’re accusing others of being too sensitive while simultaneously claiming victimhood for being “attacked.”

I think it would be safer for pizza delivery workers to drive by and sling the pizza out the window of their moving car rather than walking it up to the customer’s door and risk getting robbed or pulled into a porno movie. If you disagree with me then it’s only because you’re attacking me and you’re unwilling to continue discussing (after its already been discussed repeatedly) why this is a bad idea.
