I stopped in there on leave a couple weeks ago. Mike was EXTREMELY friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. He's got a military and contract background, extensive training, but is sadly a fan of the standard issued Beretta...:dunno:

I paid $120 here locally for mine. Great price! I've had it out in the field for a tally of perhaps a few months. Rations, sticks, boxes, seals on ammo cans, plastic banding, rope and twine, uniforms, paper, cardboard, plastic...I've cut everything with this guy. I think I've sharpened it twice...
Thats a very good point. Shortening the barrel to such a length is extremely detrimental to your ballistic performance. I have opted for a modified 870 with a variety of loads. Weight isn't an issue for me, as we get conditioned to ruck march/assault packs on a weekly basis.
Kudos to you, sir, for letting your son get some trigger time and for letting him have his own opinion. Education is the best way to teach some firearms safety, and a huge step towards responsibility in a growing child.

Just saw your post, nice!! I've thought about a side saddle. What brand did you go with? My stock is the buffered stock too, yours are the standard right? Mine won't collapse that short, but about an inch farther out.
