      Gunsmithing/ game gun….

I haven't posted here in a while and thought I would post some pics of the latest build. I came up with a new slide treatment/cuts.

      .40 cal bastard child?

I have a good friend that I hunt with and have since we were teenagers. He is an ER doctor in the Philly area. We talked about modern defense ammo as we were skinning a deer. His take on the whole modern bullet design topic: "I have pulled more bullets out of bodies than I care to remember and...

      1911 safety problem

The thumb safety is not working correctly and is allowing the sear to move. It was either cut wrong or something broke. You need to take it to someone and get it fixed before further use.

      build a 1911.

Yep, when folks say they "built" an AR I alway find that kinda amusing. Like said, an AR is really like legos for grown ups. Better verbiage would be "I assembled an AR". 1911s are vastly different, the kuhnhausen manuels are a good start, but the rabbit hole is much much deeper. Most people...

      James Yeager - 1911s SUCK Part 3

I know many of those guys and talk to them from time to time. Yep backordered for years, and I know some simply have enough orders to take them into retirement.

1911 Feeding Issues, Need Expert HELP!

The WC mags might get you where you want to be. Barrel ramped 45s often have to have the frame ramped at the same angle and flush with the start of the barrel ramp. Problem is that the frame is aluminum. So, you can't ramp it and not ruin the anodization. That will leave the soft aluminum...

      Compact 1911 in 10mm?

You could always find a commander in 40 and then fit a 10mm barrel. Very easy.

      Single stack pistols

Interesting factoid about double stack vs. single stack 1911s. Standard 1911 with Ed Brown grips: Standard STI double wide grip: Width of double stack 1.281 Width of single stack 1.284

      1911 carry

STI is where you need to look for a double stack 1911. They are a 1911 in EVERY way except for the magazine and parts related to accommodate said magazine. They run like scalded dogs too. I build many custom double wide 1911s using their frames and slides, but you can get a factory STI gun too.

Anybody Use a Lee Pro 1000???

I used one for many years. If I had to do it over again, I would save some more money and buy a Dillon. I simply did not realize how much crap I was going through to load ammo on the 1000 until I bought a Dillon.

      1911 vs Highpower

Not trying to argue, but John never said that and certainly not about the HP we all know. The HP as we know it, is not the HP that JMB created at all. John died in 1926, and at his death the HP was completely different gun. I actually think it was going to be better in many ways. John's HP was...
