80,000 pounds or so of FREE MEAT...

The local meat processor near me (maddie moo's in mechanicsburg, you can find them on facebook) ran a special on half and whole hogs and got over 500 voicemails in 2 days. I dont know if they need suppliers but it may be a avenue to look into for farmers.

      Alternative heat source

Im setup to use a tank top propane heater. We use propane for out heat anyways but w/o electric you wouldn't be able to use the furnace. I need to spend the time and find a kit somewhere on the internet that would let me fill small tanks off our bulk tank. I have asked the propane provider...

      Sit-rep in your area?

Made a trip to meijer in anderson today. The only things I noticed not present were ramen noodles, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and 5 gal primo water jugs. I was going to stock up on fish antibiotics today but sadly chewy.com is sold out and i dont know of another reputable source that sells...

Remember people who said they are coming to your place in a disaster...

Funny to find this post considering last nights events. My wife got notice from a relative concerned about the future who is aware that we have prepared. She was wanting to put together some kind of plan and use us as the foundation of her well being going forward. I was happy to hear my wife...

      What makes a prepper different?

I think the biggest difference is a prepper understands how quickly the thin veneer of society can disintegrate and through the whole world into chaos. The recent events have just been dipping at toe into the water of how bad it can really be, but hopefully it opens peoples eyes to the...

      Lessons learned during the pandemic...

I bought mine on amazon but I've seen them for sale in the camping sections of rural king. I would caution that if your buying commercial long term food store to pay attention to the meat content. A lot of these companies are just selling oat meal, noodles, and instant mashed potatoes with...

      Walkie Talkie Recommendations

I'm gonna be looking for some new ones too. Not ham transceivers just the plain old public use type. My old midland xtra talks just wont cut it anymore. What I will be looking for is a pretty positive on/off switch (hate when they come on and you don't know it and it drains the battery)...

      Lessons learned during the pandemic...

Id say it was probably a year since I last went through it. I though the bag itself was water resistant (maxpedition falcon II). Closed I think the trunk is fine, but I can remember opening it with snow on top and maybe some getting in and not thinking anything of it. You did give me a good...

      Lessons learned during the pandemic...

The biggest problem I have had recently is a moisture related issue. I was going through my bags recently to be sure all electronics were charged and all is well only to find a mold issues. I guess that little bit of water that slides off your trunk when you open it in the rain had made its...

      Sit-rep in your area?

I haven't been to the store lately so can't report on that, but I have been closely following the markets. After noticing the silver price fall to a long time low, I was hoping to buy some. I've always used silvertowne online but they are out of melt bucket, 90% us coins, 1 oz bars and hell...

What have you done this week to prep? PART II

I recently started stocking up on amazon basic batteries. They are cheap, show up quick, 10 yr life, packaged nicely. I also keep lithium for superior storage/usage life.

Carnage on Wall Street signals fears about U.S. economy ???

They economy has always been a mystery to me, even though I minored in it in college. It seems to me that people generally have this confidence that it will persist as it is and that the recent events are just cycles. I always wonder how things will carry on in the future. In 2008 all the...

      Nuclear War / EMP Update

I have prepped for possible nuclear disaster by buying potassium iodide tables and seychelle radiological filters (RADIOLOGICAL Drinking Straw - Radiological by Seychelle Environmental). Im still not completely sure these filters are different than any others. Other than a good respirator or a...

      storing water in car/home

I've been thinking about this too. I like to keep a gallon in the car but I have concerns about that bpa stuff they say is in plastic. What I'm going to do is buy one of those glass gallons of wine for $10, drink the wine , and use it to keep the gallon in the car.

      Equipment failures

      5. The enercell backup usb charger: I saw this on a video of another ingo user. Although very nice it has a push button that turns on the charger or a led flashlight. This push button seems to engage in my pack turning on the flashlight and depleting the battery. Will it work when I need it...

      Equipment failures

Through using survival and preparedness gear we all get personal experience with equipment failures. I find it beneficial to learn these issues for 2 reason. 1. to avoid them 2. to avoid bad products. If you feel the same please share and we can all grow together. 1. The eton scorpion...

What have you done this week to prep?

Purchased 90 rounds of 9mm ammo. 40 of which are pmc starfire (regretting this after watching review). Bought a bushmaster tactical field cleaning system on clearance for $40. I like the system but the molle pouch has a bushmaster embroidered logo on it. As a greyman I spent some time...

      Classes this spring/summer?

Lol, the mud made it real. I don't know if that's the same course, if so I would be looking for something a little different. Last year you mentioned a ruck march, any plans for that or did I miss the bus?

      Classes this spring/summer?

Its that time of year again. Last year I did a basic survival class by Russ Kolkman (wetsu) and really enjoyed it. I'm hoping to take more classes this spring/summer in survival, prepping, emergency medical, and maybe some scenario based shooting classes. Sadly I don't know of any in my area...
