Really? Nothing happened in 1968, 1986, nor 1994.....

If you're not aware, those are the years when they passed exactly this type of legislation and made future manufacture of weapons commonly held by civilians illegal. There were no riots, war, etc... Gun owners just rolled over and took it.

Yep... makes one wonder what happened to the spine of those folks that took a bridge on April 19, 1775.

None of those completely banned semi-automatics. Given today's volatile and divided nation, it very well COULD happen. Will it, likely no. But the chance is always there. And who's to say it will be a hot war?

They lost their spines during the post war euphoria that happened after ww2. Men became ******* and started looking to the gooberment to take care of them instead of taking care of themselves.

Men were men during that time, willing to die for a cause they believed in. Today most men are keyboard warriors who shrink at the first sign of trouble. It's sad.

We have to do our due diligence in keeping this from happening, make calls, send emails, etc. We are a collectively larger group than those who wish to see this legislation pass and the problem is that too many of us don't take them seriously because their ideas are illogical and misguided. The time to act has come and we need to be just as proactive as the opposition.

Read the bill in the op. It doesn’t ban semi automatics. It’s just the next progression of the 94 awb. All of those years (68, 86, And 94), significant legislation was passed to severely limit 2a rights. Those years are all directly correlatable to this bill. And gun owners just rolled over and took it in 100% of those instances when similar legislation was passed.

How would this be enforceable whatsoever? The legal verbiage is so ****ing broad it's ludicrous. Technically, no trigger device (bumpstock or otherwise) actually increases the potential rate of fire of the dynamic system in a semi auto rifle (bolt carrier time time from fire to full lock). They just increase the human fire rate potential.....but so does switching from a gritty mil-spec trigger to a quality trigger. Just so much fail in this verbiage it's unreal.

"Any part, combination of parts, component, device, attachment, or accessory that is designed or functions to accelerate the rate of fire of semiautomatic rifle but not convert the semiauto-matic rifle into a machinegun."

They coming for our rubber bands and fingers.

We will see. America is much softer than it was in the 90s. The Neutering of America has been underway for a generation since then(which is part of the reason people take up guns and knives to settle disputes in my humble opinion...but that's a different thread). I fear I will see an outright repeal of the 2nd Amendment attempted in my lifetime.

You may be right. And time will tell. I wonder how much of this is generated by the emotional anti-gun people and once everyone is cried out and we actually start trying to develop effective policies and measures to protect our school kids, how much appetite anyone but the rabid gun haters will have.

Also, this would qualify as a "semi-automatic assault weapon" under this bill:

It would also "ban" the Ruger 10/22 and similar semi-auto rimfires if they have threaded barrels.

.....because their legal language for defining an "assault weapon" is crap and they realize it. That rifle has the same capability and features.....but it doesn't look scary.....so they specifically exempt it.
