There are a lot of books and movies at the library that are RF tagged...good luck.

That's the funny thing...It was on my way INTO the library the first time I ever entered the building.

I just did some Google searching and then emptied my purse and located a tag sewn into the lining. I removed it and then checked the old purse I had when I was at the library. Same tag sewn into the lining. It still doesn't make sense that it goes off with my gun in the purse but not when the gun is removed. I am going to test it the next time I go to the library now that I know for sure I can legally carry there.

That doesn't explain my husband setting it off. Maybe I should search his wallet. :)

I OC at the library often. I have never had the occupants run screaming from the building, YET!

A rare earth magnet (under $5 at Menards) will deactivate theft prevention RFIDs.

    Hmm.

Magnetic, RFI, etc. are all things that don't make sense (even to an electrical engineer).

If I still set off the thing at the library, I think I will just play dumb and tell them my purse must be doing it as it sets off the ones at all of the stores too. No more leaving my EDC in the car!

No playing dumb - you're telling the truth.

Or just tell'em you have a gun. Phrasing is a little critical in this case...
