Good choice.. pm and we can go shoot together at my clubI carried .38spl/.357mag for years.
These days it's still a revolver, still a 5-shot, and still a snub nose, but now it's .44spl.

With the hole a .44spl makes, it really doesn't matter much...
Usually it's a hard cast semi-wad cutter of one weight or another.

Not quite a .38 special, but when appropriately dressed, I will carry my S&W Model 19. It is what I was initially trained with (back in the dark ages), and I shoot it as well or better than any of my semi-autos today.
My 3rd or 4th option (but still in the rotation sometimes) is a Detective Special. In a totally counterculture way, it just has regular ball range ammo.
