Piggybacking on the SAA topic, anyone have recommendations on a source for a good starter belt rig? $100 or less, western-y, practical over flashy?

There is a leather shop in Mooresville, in the same strip mall as Kroger, that sells lower priced western-style rigs. If you want a nicer, custom rig, I recommend Judson Harness & Saddlery in Rockville. They are Amish and do great work at a reasonable price. They take a while because they have so much work but it is worth the wait. Call Chris Herchberger at 765-569-0918.

Shooting a Freedom Arms 500JRH, built by JRH. First shot at a 50 yard disappearing target, then 5-for-5 at 100 yards steel. Longer-range accuracy is one of those things where, the more you know, the more find you don't know. I need a Lot more practice if I want to be good at it! Shooting steel far away is one of my very favorite pastimes.

These loads should be 440grs cast Leadheads at about 1350fps.

(edit: Don't mind the fish-eye lens showing my buddy right next to me...)

What a beast of a handgun! Some fine shooting too!

Had what I thought was another single action coming in a few weeks ago.

A Ruger Super Blackhawk 10.5". Won off gunbroker - the gun somehow wound up being delivered to LA , CA! I did get a refund.

Had a New Model Blackhawk in .357 "FOUND" on a Nevada mountain top in the mid 1980's.
What a story there, processed through Las Vegas Clark County Nevada records showing not stolen or reported lost, and because of its bad condition when "Found" by a kid, was given to me and sent back to Ruger who almost replaced all the parts except the rusted re blued cylinder, and part of the frame containing the serial number.

    My son owns it now.

What a story it could tell.

Big fan of the single actions here, a Ruger Vaquero in .45 Colt, a Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 magnum, and the pride of the fleet a Colt SAA in .44/40. Unfortunately my photography skills are weak.

View attachment 75930 I might be a bit late for this thread but 3 of my 6 Rugers. Old Model Super with Factory Brass, 50th Anniversary 44 mag, Lipsey 44 Spl.

I've had my 7 1/2 in barrel Super Blackhawk since I bought it new in 1987. I have always been very found of Ruger SA revolvers. Yours is the first I have ever seen with brass. Pretty cool!

I've tried a few (including an 1872 Colt open top and a Schoefield that desperately wanted to love, but just couldn't). In the end, the winner was my 1875 Remington "Outlaw" in .45 Long Colt. 7 1/2 barrel. It points extremely well and even makes my terrible skills look halfway decent in dropping plates.

I still might pick up a Colt 1873 Army or a Colt Bisley and see if I like them better, but so far, the Remington is the winner.
