With police dropping them the market is becoming saturated. I've been told that glock will not be making gen 4 40 pistols because majority of the guns returned are 40 and the high pressure the 40 has is causing stress on the guns.

I am in the market for a glock 23. I really only need a frame, but having a 357 sig barrel is intriguing to me.

    I have a Glock 32, which is basically a Glock 23 with a .357 Sig barrel.
.357 Sig is a great round.
Underwood makes some good loads in the 125 grain HP @ 1475fps ballpark.

Yah just went up in Gatlinburg and I wouldn’t prefer 40 but I felt equipped enough with my 23.

When you want to pack light, but still want something that hits pretty hard and doesn't run dry too fast, a 14 shot .40 pistol lends itself to the task very well.

I honestly believe the 23 is the Goldilocks glock medium sized and I have a 9mm and .40 barrel so it covers all my bases

I'm Still a fan of the .40. My main carry gun lately has been a G27 in .40. The thing is a soft shooter and yet lets me carry 10 rounds of good performing rounds in a tight little package. There are values to be had right now. My current G27 is a Gen 4 and set me back $375 out the door. That's a darned good price for a solid performer. The same gun in 9mm would have cost maybe $50 more. The market had driven the .40 prices down a bit so there are good deals to be had on the buying end.

I've also seen 40 ammo come down in price as well. I think I've seen it online for 11/12 a box.

I carry a Glock 32 or an mp 2.0 compact in 40. 357sig is my favorite carry caliber, but 40 is still my preference over 9mm. There is a noticable change in pitch shooting steel going from 9 to 40 and 357sig really makes it sing. I find comfort carrying 2 fewer rounds for more power per impact. Not really scientific lol

I think the .40 is still safe as far as it's value is concerned. It's just the ludicrous amount of LEO trade ins that are flooding the market. Getting a quality handgun that was carried hard, but rarely used is actually a great deal with the trade ins. This is great, since I can get a USP for under $400 now. :)

Really, I have not seen LE change their caliber choice, just getting their regular updates to their armament.

Have not seen any deals at show, stores or armslist, .40 is my caliber, let us all know where you find sub $300 Glocks and I will be there, most are $350-$375 used add shipping and FFL fees if any, and where's the deal?

Sorry to hear that your .40 just isn't holding it's value as it once did. Please feel free to contact us at the .40 CAL Retirement Home where we welcome all newcomers regardless of age or condition. We will see that they are exercised on a regular basis and fed a wide variety of ammo to maintain their health and well-being.

Yeah, hard to get any money out of selling something in .40 right now. I've had a nickel plated P229 in .40 up for sale for quite a while that hasn't had any hits that weren't way left field lowball. $1000+ unique gun that looks and shoots nice, but can't seem to get any decent offers. I have another P229 that I might try to sell as well, but the fact that the first one isn't selling doesn't give me confidence. The other one is railed, has custom grips, new X-ray sights and has had the SRT kit installed. Awesome gun, but I'd never get close to the money I have in it back. I'd keep them both, but have bad wrists that are getting worse and shooting .40 and .357 Sig causes too much pain now.

With police dropping them the market is becoming saturated. I've been told that glock will not be making gen 5 40 pistols because majority of the guns returned are 40 and the high pressure the 40 has is causing stress on the guns.

I picked up a .357 Sig barrel for the second P229 mentioned above and think it's a blast to shoot. I think you'll like it if you get a conversion barrel for your Glock.

    I have a Glock 32, which is basically a Glock 23 with a .357 Sig barrel.

It's a fun round to shoot, for certain :yesway:

Easily one of my favorite .40 handguns to shoot was the CZ 40P. Compact style all metal handgun that was extremely accurate. Very sad I sold that, but at least it was to a shooting buddy so I still have "visitation rights"... :):
