As others have said, it is not illegal to conceal (loaded), but against their policy. They just happen to have IMPD there to enforce the policy.

If you DO unload, do so prior to entering. You are own your own to find a "safe" direction for your muzzle. Pocket your mag. If you attempt to unload at the table with the cops, they will be PISSED (oops, sorry guys. That was my first show). That's when they have you unload the mag as well and read you the riot act.

If you do conceal, please leave it holstered. We get enough ND's from the vendors. Don't need them from attendees, too.

They'd get pissed for unloading at the firearm check table? They expect you to unload in the car?

Perfectly legal to carry at the gun show. CC or OC. Or both. Or two of each.

Show rules dictate that it must be shown unloaded & ziptied.

Of course, that only applies to those who are paying admission. Vendors aren't held to the same standard.

worse, if we get caught with a loaded gun we forfeit our $90 per table, asked nicely to pack up, escorted out and asked to never return as a vendor
I thought vendors had to unload too?
    yes we do

there is a sign to "UNLOAD HERE" outside the entrance door, of course there is no sand trap or anything to unload into. :dunno:

And yet, inside the show, haven't the last few ND's been the result of a vendor's weapon that wasn't cleared?

My point was that it's easier for a vendor to bring loaded weapons in than it is going through general admission. The consequences are higher for a vendor, however, should it be found out.

From a practical standpoint, you really can't carry at all at the 1500.

So you go in there with your gun unloaded. Let's say its my SR9c. They put a big ole orange zip tie through the barrel and ejection port. Now the darn thing doesn't go back into my holster worth a crap.

If I bring a gun for the purpose of buying a holster, the zip tie severely inhibits proper fitment anyway.

Carrying an unloaded gun with a zip tie in it makes no sense. Either don't tell and carry normally or leave it at home.

They don't care where you unload, as long as it isn't in front of them.

I normally clear the chamber in the parking lot, and then drop the mag as I walk in. Not ideal, but :dunno:.

I cut the tie and insert the mag as I walk out, but usually wait to go +1 until I get to the car. At least then I have something half-way reasonable as a backstop. Still not ideal....

That, or choose that day to conceal....

Just because they don't ask vendors as they walk in the door if they have a gun doesn't necessarily mean it is easier for us to carry it in. It is an honor system at both doors, main entrance and dealer entrance.

And you are right the ND's were vendors, but you don't see them back either. The penalty for us is much higher and therefore for the most part the rule is followed. Just like consumers walking in off the street with loaded weapons bending the rules, you are going to have dealers doing the same.
