Have fun telling your doctor, what does he know. Can't go 12 hrs without food? Seriously? Yes I had mine few years back.

It's not 12 hours....it's more like 34. I worked 12 hours in the heat today, sweating like a pig and drenching 3 different shirts. I get home I need some meat and taters, energy bar, an orange....something. And they want me to sip broth. It is what it is. I may end up regretting it...I'll see.

My deal was 5:00 PM no food. Maybe 14 hours.

If your “liquid” poop is clear and can see thru it you should be fine.....Just follow docs instructions next time. I always laugh when my patients tell me about what they read on the ole interweb

I bet that does drive Drs nuts. That's like someone telling me how to roof a house from what they read on the internet. I guess now days it is like that with all professions...with youtube and google, we all know just enough to be dangerous about some things. I was hoping Doc or some other medical type person would respond with some encouraging news. I should have resisted the temptation.

I get this sometimes when working on an A/C unit or a furnace.

You know, I probably should try it...I may like it. I was just hot and sweaty and the thought of a cup of hot broth didn't sound any better than nothing. I have had one of these before many years ago...and I will say it's better now than it was then. That chalky stuff they use to have people drink was nasty.

Heck, I even get it serving food. Once had a guest explain to me that her chicken was raw because it was white and could have killed her. Kept yelling at us for serving her white chicken. It took a while to come to learn that she thought raw chicken was white, and cooked chicken was blackened. True story.

I feel for you, been there. Follow the Dr's orders. Need to clear out the entire system. I was starving too (30 hours), and I dont recall my eating breakfast after the procedure, but my wife said I ate like a horse. Then I went home and slept for a few hours. Good luck. I will have to have another one next year. I'm considered high risk :( because my sister had cancer, but they caught it soon enough and she's been clear for several years.

    Routine.
Day one: Go to work, eat modified diet. Decide what you want to eat after the procedure. Have it in the house and/or let the person taking care of you on day three know what to get for you after the procedure.
Day two: Stay home. Drink all the liquids that are prescribed, when prescibed. Drink more liquids on list.(clear Power-aids are my go to. Use your least favorite to mix the Doc's cocktail so as not to ruin you favorites the rest of the year) Low sodium regular soup strained gives more nutrition and less sodium than broths. Have on hand plenty of TP, Baby wipes, fresh batteries in the remote and the complete, extended version of the Lord of The Rings Trilogy. Keep drinking, you don't want to be dehydrated on day three. It just makes things worse.
Day three: Have your driver/escort take you to the procedure. They always tell me to eat light afterwards. After my first, I ate a whole pizza...

Sounds like this won't help you this time and I hope all comes out well in the end for you. Bottom's up!

I have had 4 of them over the years and due for another :-(. The first time was at about 13 years old. I had to stop eating and drinking at 6:00 if I remember. I was scheduled to be the first case (6:30-7:00am). A emergency came in and I got bumped back. My mom kept asking when I was going to be tested.

At 4:30 a nurse came out and said see you guys tomorrow. I thought I was gonna freaken die! My mom had a fit and said WTF he was suppose to be the first one in and now you want him (13 yrs old me) to go 2 days with no food or water? Needless to say, but we got an apology and they found time to run me threw. That was back in the mid 70's in a small town crappy hospital.

The last 3 were not so bad. Although I do throw up the GoLytely. I ended up taking Magcitrate and a bunch of Ex-lax. I think pooped stuff I ate 2 years ago. OMG, I was glad to have it over.

Hopefully you did not screw up your test. Best of luck with it. I hope it comes back negative.

You guys are killing me. My side hurts from laughing at some of these comments. Starting to think something isn't right though...I took 4 pills at 5 and have drank 2 bottles of 32 oz. gatorade mixed with 34 doses of Miralax and I have been to bathroom none, not even to pee. Gonna be a long night.

Serously, you can't go a day without eating food? Think of it as training for TEOTWAWKI.

Absolutely follow Dr.'s directions. Luckily I have never had to have the procedure repeated. The old chute has been clean as a whistle every time.

I also have to have my esophagus stretched every 3-5 years because it gets to a point I can't swallow anything. The last time I had it stretched I was also due for my colonoscopy. The doctors were able to do both one after the other. I did hang a note around my neck with the following "Stretch this end only!" with an arrow pointing towards my head.

You did ask them to start at the top and finish at the bottom, right? Otherwise you'll never get the taste out of your mouth. :):
