Think I bought the last 7.62 x 51 Nato battle pack that Cabelas in Noblesville had! Nice since I just got something in that caliber a few weeks ago!

At Rural King Tuesday, went by the gun counter. Ammo shelves empty, lines 4 deep at each computer terminal filling out 4473's, counter 6 deep.

Lafayette's Rural King is the same, no ammo, display cases starting to look a bit empty and a lot of people looking to buy guns and ammo.

Talked to a counterperson at our Hammond Cabelas an hour ago. He said the gun department is basically printing money right now. They're down to about 1/3 of their normal handgun stock and it looked like and the rifles were getting pretty scarce as well.
I posted this up in the NWI section too, but these are the range and self defense handgun ammo shelves as of right now....

WOW, I often go to Cabelas to walk around, I'm into the outdoors hiking, fishing, kayaking. Friday, ammo was there, today, ammo was gone. Gun sales looked busy, however good job BGF

However I fear that guns and ammo will be unreasonably priced again. Which is fine, free market, I can make my own, but taking my family out, or new shooters where I prefer manufacture ammo, will be more difficult. Walmart no longer carries ammo, Gander is gone, local gun shops I have not checked as I need no reason to purchase another firearm, no matter how awesome a Kriss Vector is.

Some story about a grasshopper and an ant comes to mind.

Just took a quick trip up to Cabela's up in Noblesville so my wife could get some sleep after doing another grocery run early this morning after her night shift was over. Ammo is now bare except for turkey, loads 22 mag, 17 hmr and some misc other calibers like 500 SW Mag and the like. There is currently a 3 hour wait on Background checks. Didn't really need anything but picked up a few things anyway. Now I need to check the Liquor stores and see what's left, might need that to trade for other stuff down the road! LOL!

Just came home from Shoot Point Blank in Carmel. The place was packed, 2:30 in the afternoon, people lined up 10-12 deep at the register buying gums and ammo. I used the range, and as I was leaving was looking around, and a young Asian girl asked me to help her. She was with an older Asian gentleman and she said they had just bought a gun and she needed nine liter ammunition. I didn’t ask what type of pistol they bought, but she probably needed nine millimeter ammunition. All premium 9mm ammo was gone, but I found a in opened case of 500 115 gr Blazer 9mm FMJ on the floor with a lot of Blazer .40 FMJ, and told her she should buy the whole 500 rd case, but her escort opened it up and took four 50 rd boxes.
My good deed of the day.

Steel Core may have just answered my question but I just heard a rumor that handgun sales are all getting 2 week holds from background checks. I tried calling my favorite gun store but their phone has been busy the last 30 minutes or so.

I've done 2 transfers today and both went through as soon as I hit submit. Don't know about call in background checks but doing the online method appears to be working normally.

I think 9 liter ammo would be more of a field artillery round. Maybe a battleship! :):

I had the second customer this week ask me about firearms.
One just bought a Glock 19 and the other wanted to know where he can buy a cheap used shotgun for home defense.

I thought about suggesting a Mossberg Shockwave or Remington Tac14, but I just went looking and there aren't many choices available, unless you want to overpay.

I didn’t ask her what they bought, the big line inside SPB was for purchases, I had just fired 50 rods of .380, 50 rds of .40, and 100 tds of 9mm in Glocks 42/23/43.
The couple may have been Chinese, how ironic eh? SBP Carmel had one G-26 on display at $479.99, and some premium custom Glock models, no shotguns that I could see, some AR’s.
On the shelves were a few boxes of premium 10mm, 38 Spcl, .380, and loose on the floor inside the front door was plenty of Blaser .40 and the now opened case containing 9mm and that’s FMJ.
I bet that’s all gone today. Magazines were being snapped up too.
I’m good on most things, but I did talk to the Boss Lady, has who said she’s good after she got six bags of Rice....but I cannot live on Rice and Kimchi like she can.
A run on food starts today I think, California just announced they have told their citizens to hunker down.
Look out Aldies I’m coming today for canned soup!

I had no idea there was another run on guns and ammo happening....

Me either... I hadn't paid much attention to the market since 2016 until the last 2 weeks...

Tonight I pulled the FBI NICS records and checks have actually gone up consistently every month Trump has been in office. I had heard anecdotally that demand was down and that some LGS were closing or having a tough time (which maybe some were), but NICS checks are up, way up actually. Trump has dwarfed Obama era numbers. I was very, very surprised. Trump's first month in office there were almost twice as many NICS checks vs. Obama's first month.

This level of complacence won't be something I fall into again. I should be checking NICS numbers every few months, at least, just to get a barometer of the market.
