    I don't doubt the 120.5 per 100 in the U.S. statistic.
But it's a bit misleading because out of 100 people in this country, it doesn't tell us how many of the 100 people actually own a gun, and how many of the hundred each own many guns.
Or how many will be able to use them
Or how many have them close enough when they actually need them.

INGO should remember that the Israel you hear of in the gun culture is a perversion of reality.

Israel was founded by hardcore Socialists. That worldview, and it hatred for the individual and his liberty, still runs Israel.
Yeah, I admit to being fooled. I see those pics of the hot chicks with rifles slung over their back and assumed that was a widespread thing. 2% … wow.

55% may be a bit high nationally for legal owners, but it's got to be more than 35%. I could be way off. The Free State of Indiana would/should be higher than the national average. Many firearm owners won't admit to ownership on surveys as they don't trust them and do NOT want anyone -- especially strangers -- to know they own firearms. I haven't told my sister I own firearms, or any other immediate or extended family member except my brother. One metric would be the percentage of 18 and older adults who were issued an LTCH just prior to the Constitutional Carry law going into effect. That wouldn't be the number of owners, but you would know it's got to be something substantially higher than that. Households with firearms in them would be another meaningful metric . . . if it could be measured. I could see that going well over 50%.
I always close one eye while reverse-engineering. US population and firearms numbers are pretty good, adults are 75% of total pop.

At that point I close one eye...

The William English/Georgetown survey from 2021 had it around 35% IIRC. I think a lot of gun owners don't say they are gun owners.

I did some reverse-engineering on the numbers (population and number of firearms in the US: ) I felt pretty confident 55% is more like it.
At some point over the last 10 years our kid’s pediatrician started asking if we own guns. This is during their annual check ups. She would tell us she doesn’t care either way but is required by law to ask. It’s none of their business and I would respond appropriately but respectfully. I have no idea what is done with that information, but I don’t trust the government.

Maybe it's just me, but If I knew, at some point in history, my family, and fellow Jews were rounded up, and put into cattle cars because they were defenseless, I would want to be armed and trained..Google the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising...just a few guns held off the nazi bastards for a month...."Never again" should be ingrained into their souls, culture, and way of life!

Mostly "never again" is merely a stalking horse for money. There are those that think as you (and me) but they are a distinct minority and I am friends with all 3 of them.

Most think that The Shoah is the result of a private individual having control of the government, not the inverse. Utopia is just one more law away.

For those wanting to understand the worldview of the Founders of Israel, I urge you to read Moses Hess, Nahum Syrkin, Berl Katznelon and Ber Borochoff. Understand it is very different world view. Goverment uber alles.

At a work physical, on company property, the doc asked why my holster was empty.
    Work started allowing guns.
I had to tell her... In the parking lot. In the parking lot.
Don't tell ANYONE if you brought it in a building.
And don't park your car in a building either

I like this site's position regarding that question.

"Remember when writing your complaint to be polite. Explain why you find the doctor’s or health plan’s behavior unacceptable. Include the powerful points we’ve discussed:

    • Your doctor is professionally unqualified to give expert advice on firearms

    • Your right to own firearms is a civil right that is none of your doctor’s business

    • A doctor misusing his or her authority and trust to push a political agenda of gun control is an ethical boundary violation. Such unprofessional conduct is not acceptable."

Other than on-line checklists I have never been asked the question. If in person my immediate response is going to be, "why do you believe that is an appropriate question under the limits of medical ethics standards?"

If a doctor ever asks me if I have guns, I'll just say I don't.

I used to leave my handgun in the car when I'd go to my doc (no weapons policy), but I'd leave my holster on. The only time he asked me anything about guns was to ask what I normally carried in the holster.
    Cool.
But the doctor I have now is a condescending "Fauci" type egomaniac and I wouldn't trust him to say yes.
Got stuck with him after a great doctor I had before him who moved out of state.

When I still lived in Illinois I had a cool doctor that was also into guns, lost him because of covid. He worked in a clinic that ordered all employees to take the jab and he refused and got fired. That was right after we moved to Indiana so I just found a new doctor here in Indiana.
He also had a pretty little nurse that was asking some of their dumb*** questions. When asked if I "felt safe at home" I answered "I feel safe anywhere." She said then you must carry. Jim.

Oh, wait Mr Attacker. I need to go find and load my LCR 22 before you enter my home.

Me shuffling through a few drawers…..15 minutes later, dang, now where did I leave my bullets?

Hey Mr Criminal, can you come back tomorrow?
