Sounds like an ugly departure... had to be a disagreement somewhere, maybe with where the show is going this year, perhaps?

Laura leaving Q95, and Gunner likely on his way out... it does sound more like a management issue with Clear Channel. Always heard some pretty nasty stories about them when I worked with Emmis.

    Radio is brutal, dude.

I remember Ron Majors (TV anchor in Chicago) telling a story on the Roe Conn Show about someone having to train his replacement AFTER being fired.

Radio is just a short-hand word for the phrase"having to eat your lunch in your car at 10:00AM in the parking lot as you just got fired and escorted from the building."

And his kids are all probably more mature than he is.

Of course, with him getting older and what with his fascination with :poop:, now he has an excuse: He and the baby can both be in diapers at the same time.

Oh yeah. I forgot about the :poop: thing. I really quit listening about 2009.

20 years ago or so, I used to listen to them in the mornings. I got really tired of hearing the same bits played over and over plus hearing their old bits that they passed off as an "homage". The time the show was funny was when there were guests like Tim Wilson, Rodney Carrington, and etc. I would up tuning into X103 or 92.3 just to get away from the fake laughter.

    Damn!
I suspected that Kristi was forced out when they dusted off Pat Carlini to cover her spots.
But to also dump Ron, aka Donny Baker?
Yeah, the show is on its last legs, even though it's been a mere shadow of its former self for about ten years now.
I grew up listening to these guys from 1980 onward.
Hardly a day went by without yet another great bit (Dickens Cider, Shirtless Girl, etc.) and a steady stream of characters.
Gone are the glory days of the Love Brothers, Harry Carry, and countless other characters.
    What a shame, really.

At the beginning of the year Ron Sexton was telling everyone on his Facebook page that his lawyers and their lawyers were unable to come up with a suitable contract for the continuation of his "voices" on the show. Yesterday I read something that stated that an agreement between Sexton and the radio bosses had been reached. So perhaps Donnie Baker is not gone now.

EDIT: Sexton announced he was back on the show on Jan 6th on his FB page...

He told them he was gone if they didn't pony up the cash. Said it right to their face.

Sexton is the voice of Floyd the Trucker, Kenny Tarmack, Donnie Baker, and several others that make a regular appearance on the show....so he would have definitely left a hole in the show scripting...

Like you guys, I quit listening years ago. Still, it's sad to see the old crew dissolve and go away.

Opie and Anthony lost Anthony... Bob and Tom lost Bob... Doesn't leave much in the way of decent morning shows. Never much cared for Stern.

What I do anymore is record something or download podcasts and listen to them the next morning while driving to work. One of the things besides the reruns B&T got into the rut of doing was the constant commercials. Podcasts and recordings allow me the option of listening to commercials or not. I get much more content and less wasted time in the limited listening time I have during the day.

    Where's the bacon?
I figured it was their first week back in the new year, Kristi might have had something going on with her girls or something, so Pat covered.

They could have gone out with class and style.

Tom: "Bob is retiring, and the show just won't be the same without him, so thank you all for a bunch of good years."
    Bob: This is Bob
    Tom: Tom
    Kristi: Kristi
    Chick: and Chick, saying
    All: God bless you all."

Instead, they let the team fracture one at a time, where it looks like they're trying to hold on by their fingernails... and will ultimately end in pitiless irrelevance.
Perhaps, however, this is their way of getting back at who- or whatever forced their hands, sort of a "you think you win by (whatever led to the departures)? We'll just *leave* and leave you hanging, holding the bag."

Kristi will land on her feet, I am confident. Bob will be happy in retirement, possibly guesting somewhere once in a while, if it suits him, but spending most of his time with the things he loves most:

    1. (Becky's) boobs and
    2. beer

I don't know about Chick, and I don't care about Tom. With Bob and Kristi there, he was tolerable.
Now it's just poop jokes and Chick making fun of Tom's aloof, holier-than-thou attitude. Sad end to a good show. We shall not see their like again.

    Damn!

I'm going to miss it. I used to love to listen to them when I came over here on race morning. I'd never heard anything like there where I'm from.
