Just got 'unfriended' and I'm not a bit sorry.

Long story short, an old friend who has been corrupted by the left in his indoctrination in his pursuit of his liberal studies PHD posted an article on FB attempting to debunk the theory that sanctuary cities are to blame for high crime.

I countered that its not sanctuary cities, but long term democrat run cities that are the problem. So I started throwing very basic stats at him.

He countered with a lame heatmap that coincided with the democrat voting patterns.

I asked very pointedly it had nothing to do with that, and places like Chicago, Detroit, and Philly all of which were run by dems for decades are a coincidence?

I moved on. Later I saw the alert that he mentioned me in a comment, and 2 mins later I went to view it and I suddenly didnt have permission to view it. I moved on and posted vaguely about it, and how I won the argument via deletion. I closed the browser for a reason I cant say now. He popped into my post and said he didnt know anything about it and that the thread was still there. (apparently he blocked me and he didnt realize after doing so I couldnt see his comment about me, or any other alert activities related to the thread, tipping his hand)

He then proceeded to try to continue the debate in my thread. I told him I was not interested in discussing it out of context in my post, but would gladly continue it at the original thread.

Next post was "live long and prosper, dude". Sensing a disturbance in my force I checked my friends list. I was 1 short of what I had earlier today when I considered unfriending somebody. (maybe even him, I dont recall) All I know is I was a nice round number, and now I'm one down. 110% sure its him.

Oh well, no love lost. I bunched the panties of a liberal, and all he could do was silence me in order to "win". Sad, really as I hung onto him knowing it was bad form to unfriend just because I disagree with him, having other connections to him IRL.

One less whining liberal in my feed, so I guess thats good.

On the other hand, whether you "won" the argument or "lost", is it worth losing a real friend for an internet battle?

Perceptions change over time. Friends are sometimes difficult to find in the real world.

When emotions stirred my extended family, I opted out of Facebook entirely. Family is forever. Facebook is electrons.

I dont care who you are; when you find yourself on the losing end of an argument and resort to censorship to win/end it, you lose all respect from me. And when you feign ignorance as to why I can no longer participate in the thread due to that censorship, its game over. He knew EXACTLY why I couldnt see the thread anymore, but chose not to own up to it. He even tried to innocently continue our discussion on my thread, away from his liberal audience. When I wasnt having it he decided I wasnt worth having around and terminated the "friendship". I wish him no ill will, but dont feel bad in the outcome.

This was the brother of a friend, who isnt far behind him in liberal lunacy. I hope to continue that friendship, even though she participates in ideas contrary to logic. (against guns, attends a "church" that supports PP, etc)

I don't do FB, but I also am very selective in choosing my friends.
The only liberals I willingly associate with are the very few (outnumbered by my conservative extended family members by a factor of least 50-to-1) liberals in my extended family.
The only other ones are those I am compelled to associate closely with, especially the few at work.
It's unsurprising to hear about the degree of cowardice that you encountered in your case with one climbing the intellectual ladder of the Ministry of Truth, though.

I have zero liberals on my Facebook and I have zero non pro gun people. My friends list is small and I prefer it that way. I use Facebook for memes and jokes and occasional news.

I unfriended my son long ago. He is a radical atheist and socialist. I know now that I could have just unfollowed and wouldn't have to have seen his posts.

    This right here!

On my FB page right below my picture is the following: (paraphrased) I'm not a PC type person, if you're thin skinned or have an easily bruised ego you best move along!

I tried to tag a friend in a fb post about them the other day. Their name didn't come up so I assumed they unfriended me. I finished the post by calling them "friend formerly known as ...". Soon after, said friend liked and commented on the post. I'm glad I didn't type "former friend known as...", which is what I meant at the time.

Censorship is the final tool with a left thinker. I have tried to be reasonable in my discussions with these folks as it is their right to have an opinion. I may not agree but again, they can think this way.
It is really amazing to see the left respond after this last election cycle. Their way of thinking lost.

Facebook is stupid and why would you have liberal friends? The guy did him a favor.

I have some f/b friends not a lot. There is one I am considering un friending or unfollowing, due to his political rants. Unfortunately he is also my attorney that wrote and holds a copy of my will.

    Ahhh..... the book of faces.

CM; Your situation with FB is a perfect example of some faces being "twice sided". A term I came up with a few years back whilst calling out a friend over a controversial situation we were involved in. My situation ended "calmly" after that.

I like this. I will use it when it fits. My nephew is one of these people.

I'd get myself in trouble if I were on Facebook. There are just way too many snowflakes that need correcting for me to resist-some of whom are friends of mine.

Threads like this and others are an increasing part of why I don't do FB. Not knocking it for other folks, it's just not for me. Gun forums are about the limit of my internet socializing, and I'm good with that.

yep it's worth it. No way do I want libtard friends who I consider traitors to my country. I'm starting to truly understand how brother fought brother in the civil war. These liberals are nuts
