    NPR ***HOLES

Haven't actually heard the bit but I heard the advertisement for it.. Hit piece on the HPA. SUPPOSEDLY, all that noise we make is a safety feature during a mass shooting.

As a side note, the ATF just cashed my check.

Pls call and write your congress critters and Senators. I want my money back.

Wait. . . What? It was balanced?

You think balanced means it all agrees with your view?

Did you read the whole article?

Wait. . . What? It was balanced?

Did you read the article at least? It was one of the more neutral reports I've seen on this issue so far. They even had audio examples so one could hear unsuppressed and suppresed gunshots of various weapons side by side.

I thought it was very evenly presented.

A Chicago news station did a report on suppressors. Had a pro and a con side. Kinda funny that the pro side actually showed one being used... and it wasn't that silent.

Yet the con side was hysterical.
I think the pro side was Military Arms Channel
I think the con side was a police chief, or "the" police chief.

Here is one, but I don't think it's the one I'm thinking of.

And, the reporter makes it sound like the ONLY people pushing for it, is the suppressor industry, and ONE person that championed the right to carry.

Sorry KLB. All I'd heard when I started that post was the blurb on the radio for the segment. Sounded like a hit piece to me. Did not know it was available for consumption.

And no, balanced does not mean "always agrees with me".

Judged them on reputation, not substance this time. My bad.

Considering the source, that was what I was expecting when I opened it. I was really amazed at what I found.

    (Read from bottom to top)

Senator Gillibrand spreading some fear-mongering lies about suppressors.

Ignoring the fact that the sound is brought down to ~120-130db... which is nowhere near silent.

    Hilarious!
1st... What is a gun silencer? I've never seen (or heard) one!
2nd... "criminals" are already banned from owning "suppressors".
3rd... "witnesses might not hear"??????? If I witness a shooting, I either heard and/or saw the shooting, hence the word "witness"!
4th... the "New York" comment...? She'll never get it!

Logic is not usually an anti-gunner's strong point.

I guess we can't expect reporters to use the correct terminology when the "expert" at the gun shop keeps repeating "silencer"!

The inventor of the silencer/suppressor, Mr. Maxim, called it a silencer.
    Was he wrong?

Silencerco's name has silencer in it.
You are correct but the problem is that the anti crowd tries to portray the term "silencer" literally as a characteristic to promote their agenda. If you want to get into it literally then it should be referred to as a "suppressor"

Like most of America, all they (even myself to a degree) know about suppressors are what they see in movies.

Well, I refer to it as a suppressor, and I explain to people that gunshots can still be at industrial level.
But, I'm not going to knock the guy that created them in the first place. He made them. He should be able to name them.
