    Steve Earle, Copperhead Road:

I always heard “...headed down to Knoxville with a wicked load...”

The actual lyric is “...weekly load...”, I believe.

And if anyone can tell me what in the hell Chris Robinson sings after “Mama I’m sure hard to handle now...” let me know!
Daddy also ran the whiskey in a big block dodge, not a big black one

"yessir'am" is one interpretation (yes sir I am). Another interpretation is "yes I am".

Otis Redding's lyrics (the original) has "yessir'am".

    Amazing Grace.

As a young kid, I always heard".....that saved a wrench like me"

A a teen, I thought it was about a girl and I heard "saved a wench like me."

A mechanic who worked out of his home had a dog named Mace. Mace had a bad habit of eating all the grass on the mechanic's lawn, so the mechanic had to keep Mace inside. The grass eventually became overgrown. One day the mechanic was working on a car in the backyard and dropped his wrench, losing it in the tall grass. He couldn't find it for the life of him, so he decided to call it a day. That night, Mace escaped from the house and ate all the grass in the backyard. The next morning the mechanic went outside and saw his wrench glinting in the sunlight. Realizing what had happened he looked toward the heavens and proclaimed, "A grazing Mace, how sweet the hound, that saved a wrench for me!

Crosby Stills Nash - Southern Cross

    actual:
Got out of town on a boat goin' to Southern islands
Sailing a reach before a followin' sea
She was makin' for the trades on the outside
And the downhill run to Papeete
Off the wind on this heading lie the Marquesas
We got 80 feet of the waterline nicely making way
In a noisy bar in Avalon I tried to call you

    me:
Got out of town on a boat goin' to Southern islands
Sailing a eerily before a followin' sea
She was makin' for the trades on the outside
And the downhill run to Pompeii Bay
    bla bla bla bla
We got 80 feet of the waterline nice for making waves
In a noisy bar in Avalon I tried to call you

Same song, but in the Chorus:

Actual - I have been around the world. Lookin' for that woman girl.

Heard - I have been around the world. Lookin' for that one-eyed girl.

    “Bula Vinaka, Beachside”
“Bula Vinaka,” is a Fijian expression for “hello, thanks.”

I had to look it up.

    There's a Fleetwood Mac lyric:
When the rain washes you clean you'll know
    Which I heard as
When the rainbow shaves you clean you'll know

The word is Mondegreen. There was a little girl that heard the song about the Bonnie Earl O'Moray numerous times.

    Ye Hielands an ye Lowlands
    O, whaur hae ye been
They hae slain the Earl o' Moray
And laid him on the green.

Which she heard as "The Lady Mondegreen". She wondered who the Lady Mondegreen was and why she had been killed.

The Earl O'Moray, James Stewart, was an illegitimate son of King James V, and one of my ancestors. He is considered to be the first head of state assassinated with a gun, on the orders of the Earl of Huntly, with whom he had been having disputes about territory and the favor of the king. So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

My all time favorite was from David Nails "Red Light"

"She likes to get her toes done bright red" is what he sings. For years I thought it was "she likes to get her toast on rye bread" lol. When it finally hit me I was driving and had to pull over I was laughing so hard at myself.

Silent Night - Franz Xaver Gruber

    actual:
    Sleep in Heavenly peace

me (when I was a little kid):
    Sleep in Heavenly peas

Had this vision in my head (remember it exactly to this day) of the baby Jesus snoozing away in a whole lotta peas, and being worried because I personally did not care very much for peas at all!
