AFAIK NPTU is still there (My sister lives in Milton Twp)
I had to look up AFAIK.
It's possible. The nuke I trained on S8G is still in use, so they'd want to keep the prototype going to research any problems in the fleet. And they'll train nukes in the meantime.
Some, like the D1G (we called it the Dig ball (see pic) has to be decomm'd by now, due to EOL (End Of Life). When the D1G was designed, they were designed for 30 year lifes. Modern nukes I think are designed for 50 years.
(note, D1G is the "ball".) It's a giant containment structure.
