    That doesn't make any sense.

I'm not taking up a side, but aren't you "support[-ing the] rumor of kiddie porn" w/o seeing it? :dunno:

You argument seems to be against yourself, so I'm not sure that's what you meant.

And you "saw the poster or ad"? Like in a subway station (do they have those in Ziggidyville?) or bus stop? You just happened by it? Or did you read about it on an editorial site or catch it on a YouTube channel? I'm thinking your opinion was formed not by analyzing the subject matter, but instead being told what it is by others.

At least SnapDragon is willing to consider the material and form her own assessment.

I agree, that was confusing. My point was that people who may be criticizing my opinion because I never saw the movie, may in fact never saw the movie themselves....yet they criticize me.

My second point is that one does not always need to see an entire movie to have an accurate assessment.

Chez. I agree that the blurring out isn't really needed. It was the one pic I found that had several poses in a single picture. There is no nudity in it. But I still call it child porn. Displaying a child in that way, in my eyes, is pitiful. I have a daughter in that age group. They may sway my belief a little, but not much.

Supporting a company that will make $$ because of it is just as bad. Again, this is my opinion.

Thanks to those who pointed out that this was a French film. The Wikipedia article provides some additional insight.

Cuties (French: Mignonnes) is a 2020 French coming-of-age drama film written and directed by Maïmouna Doucouré in her feature directorial debut.[SUP][2][/SUP] The film stars Fathia Youssouf, Médina El Aidi-Azouni, Esther Gohourou, Ilanah Cami-Goursolas and Maïmouna Gueye. The plot revolves around a Senegalese-French girl with a traditional Muslim upbringing who is caught between traditional values and Internet culture. According to the filmmakers, the film is intended to criticise the hypersexualisation of pre-adolescent girls.[SUP][3][/SUP][SUP][4]

    Here's the whole article. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuties

For the record, I can care less about what consenting adults do in their homes; none of my business (as long as it's legal). When children are involved, it is our responsibility to prevent this kind of perverseness. If there is any question of whether or not one should speak up, when it comes to children, you always err on the side of caution.

    Now you've done it.

PS- did you just make a "think of the children!" argument?

PPS - After pondering it, I'd rather direct my my ire to Disney, YouTube, etc. for creating a hyper-sexualized culture targeted to tweens and teens.

I've not seen the film, nor will I. I have only seen the promotional pictures and that's enough for me to know that it's not something I would want to watch, regardless of the message they think they are trying to convey. I also think that parents that exploit their children in "beauty pageants" are wrong for doing so as well, at least the ones that dress their daughters like high priced call girls as in the Jonbenet Ramsey case. Call me a prude. Don't care.

I totally agree with you on the pageant thing, DD.

I'm going to make a movie demonstrating animal abuse by torturing animals on screen, instead of just using cut shots and implications.
And you can't judge it unless you watch the animal torture.

You guys do realize that you are contributing to the any success this movie has on Netflix in the states, right? A French movie about an Islamic African girl in France would get no attention if not for stuff like this.

And that is why, I would imagine, Netflix changed the movie poster.... sexually exploit children to promote a movie in the USA.

Keep the blinders on if you want to. Sex, sexy clothes, nude pics, and erotic dancing with children involved is a hard no. Even if it is just part of a story, even if it is just a little bit, even if the French are ok with it. It's a hard ****ing no. That standard does not change, will not change and what was unacceptable 20 years ago is and should remain unacceptable until the last human on earth breathes their last breath.

Best post I've read in this thread so far. These are little girls. They are 11 years old for cripes sake. Sexy clothing, twerking, sexy dancing is just an attempt to sexualize our children and take away their innocence. It's an attempt to normalize pedophilia. These are children and any movie that portrays them differently is out of the question.
